Dayton runs out to an early lead and never trails in beating Duquesne to become the lone undefeated team in the Atlantic 10, 79-70.

Colorado State helped cloud the MWC picture by snapping Wyoming's 7-game winning streak in Laramie 64-53. Tvrdy had 25 points.

UNLV can tie Wyoming atop the standings at 7-2 if they win at San Jose State tonight.

I watched the replay of the Oklahoma-Kansas State "scream game" last night (Oklahoma won big) and boy, do I ever like Vionise Pierre-Louis! So smooth, and so quick at getting where she needs to be! Lots of bigs would do well to study her. She also finished with 26 points.

In some Horizon action - UWGB looks to be setup to avenge their loss at Northern Kentucky - they lead 27-14 at halftime over NKU. And it's a close battle in Milwaukee with UWM holding a 31-27 lead over Wright State at halftime.

North Florida upsets FGCU by 2. In the excitement I forgot the final score, think it was 75-73.

VA Tech beat Syracuse in the Carrier Dome, 73-64. First time EITHER VT men’s or women’s basketball team has won in the Dome.

Last night was actually kinda "fruit basket upset" in the ACC. In addition to VT beating Syracuse *in the dome*, the following oddities (and not so oddities) happened:

Louisville completely wiped out UVA, 77-41
Notre Dame took out UNC, 94-62
Duke stomped on GA Tech, 77-59

Those might have been expected, but not by such margins. However,
NC State beat FSU, 65-56
and of course, there was that VA Tech-Syracuse game

And among the basement dwellers
Wake Forest took out poor old Boston College, 67-59 (hey BC, come over to the CAA, we play football!)
and Pitt beat Clemson, 58-42

JMU went down to Williamsburg and tromped all over William and Mary, 86-41. Four Dukes were in double figures, and a couple of them held a block party--Devon Merritt with 4 and Kayla Cooper-Williams with 2. Kayla is rapidly rising on the JMU record list, now tied at 7th for total blocks, and since she's only a (redshirt) sophomore, I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up at the top before she's done. Logan Reynolds not only scored in double figures but had 5 steals--gosh, I love that girl! Elon is next, on Sunday, in their tiny gym.

Georgetown at Villanova is a good game so far - 51-50 Villanova with 9 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.

What a crazy ending. Georgetown down 3 with 5 seconds to go and timeouts remaining. Doesn't call one to advance the ball. Villanova fouls with 3 seconds left (foul to give) in the backcourt. Still no timeout. Pass inbounds to player streaking in for layup. Villanova wins by one.

Georgetown has not won a game this season where they have been trailing with under 5 minutes to go, per the announcers. I think I know why.

The most Jekyll and Hyde team of the year has to be the Norse of Northern Kentucky. They are 4-17, but have wins over Green Bay and E Tennessee St (2nd in the Southern). They also played Milwaukee within 3 and Wright St within 5 in their first matchup this season. The Norse are at it again today, up 29-15 at the half on the road at Milwaukee.

Ball State's at-large hopes took a hit today as the Cardinals went down at Ohio, 80-76. Ohio built up a 25-point lead in the first half, but BSU came all the way back to tie it with 7 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Ohio then went on a run and made enough free throws down the stretch to claim the win. The game featured a total of 57 fouls called, with five players fouling out.

Northern Kentucky holds on for a 60-57 win. The Norse led the whole way but Milwaukee close to within 2 with 5 seconds to go. Milwaukee is now borderline NIT.

Zags travel to BYU and win handily over the Cougs to take a 4 game lead in the WCC. Jill Barta had 34 points and 14 boards for the Zags. Gonzaga had 23 assists on 26 baskets and shot 8-16 from three (they were ranked in the 300s among all schools in 3pt %.
