I don't know what an Alessia Cara is, but it surely isn't as good as SZA.

Most of these artists I don't know. My co-workers like listing to one genre only. Old 60's-70's white rock. Ugh._________________ If you cannot inspire yourself to read a book about women's basketball, or any book about women's sports, you cannot inspire any young girl or boy to write a book about them. http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/Richardstrek
Adding: Write Funko. The WNBA should have Pops. |

I hardly listen to today's artists, but I will say that the winners (Kendrick, Bruno, Stapleton) are talents.
Gary Clark Jr. wasn't a nominee/winner this year but he is the ONLY artist under 40 that I think is a musical genius.

I think I would appreciate Kendrick Lamar's flow more if a) his voice weren't so goddamn annoying and b) if the first song of his I heard didn't have a recurring hook of "Bitch, sit down, be humble" (well, okay, first and a half, but his verse on "Freedom" seemed kind of glued on as well).

Basically. Just can't catch on to his music.
And no surprise Mars won the big awards. He purposely waited to release his stuff to not compete with Adele last year.

Alessia Cara, who won Best New Artist, was the only woman to be presented with an award during the live show on Sunday night, but according to Recording Academy President Neil Portnow, the onus is on female artists to "step up" to the plate.
"It has to begin with… women who have the creativity in their hearts and souls, who want to be musicians, who want to be engineers, producers, and want to be part of the industry on the executive level," he told reporters in the GRAMMY press room. "[They need] to step up, because I think they would be welcome." |

"It's not for me to talk about. I produce the TV show," GRAMMY Awards executive producer Ken Ehrlich said backstage of the lack of female winners, adding that Lorde's snub was due to a shortage of space during the show. "I don’t know if it was a mistake. These shows are a matter of choices. We have a box and it gets full. She had a great album. There’s no way we can really deal with everybody." |
