In the article, they say that his "retirement" is because his contract was not renewed. Says he's announcing it to give his employees time to find another job, but I would think he could do that without going public with the news. Might be he is hoping someone else picks him up.

I think, in a sense, it shaped RU's recruiting. They got known, and that got them recruits they might not have gotten otherwise. The fact that almost none of that class stayed created its own problems.

Honestly, the more fascinating twist, to me, was the effect that the Imus debacle had on New Jersey state politics.
