MSU is running low on guards.

Flaherty off to a hot start on her bobblehead own night. Hit her 1st 3 3s, IIRC.

25-11 UM after 1.

when the announcers say Flaherty, as all-time leading scorer in UM history, is the face of UM basketball, are they serious?

MSU is without 5-6 backcourt players for various reasons so they have like two wings and 20 post players with which to compete.

Queenie, The break between quarters featured a lip synch battle between Flaherty and KBA.

36-22 at halftime. Michigan’s FG % tapered off a bit in the 2nd Q, but they were 63% from three.

For right now, yes, I rather think she is, at least on the women's side. There's also the possibility that they'd like something to bury the scandal about the Fab Five.

KBA wins the text vote tally 81% to 19% (Katelynn was good, but KBA had guts).

If they had said women's, ok, but were we supposed to make that assumption? I'm guessing not, since they had just shown glen rice handing her the ball.

She has as good of a shot as a Maggie Lucas...or Banham maybe. Same with Tyra Buss, imo. Mid to late second round.

I’d say the Fab Five has faded. The guys did go the NC game in 2013 and had that miraculous run to win the B1G tournament after a plane crash.

Jillian Dunston is really the face of the program right now. Katelynn’s too quiet.

8th or 9th woman, maybe. Not sold on her athleticism translating but that's the case with a lot of these B1G guards. She's gonna have to improve a lot as a PG to stick IMO.

I love Jilly to pieces and I am completely not surprised she's entering the "So You Want to Be a Coach" program.

I think it will be in East Lansing in 2/11 when MSU has a couple of players back.

Guys, the scandal.....and it is VERY nasty indeed....is solely on the shoulders of Michigan State University. It may result in the resignation of its president, among others. UM is clean.

And I finally figured out who Flaherty reminds me of, kind of ...Shanna Zolman, only with more mobility.

No, not the Fierce Five and that horror at Michigan State that no one in a position of authority wants to take responsibility for because God fucking forbid they risk the ~money~, the dudes back in the day who got their wins vacated.

FWIW, I think Flaherty's a better PG than Zolman, but Zolman was a better shooter. Depends on what Katelynn's ultimate position is professionally, I guess.

Well, Shanna was mostly an off-guard. She did run the point sometimes, but all Pat's guards did....she insisted on that. IIRC that might have been back when Tenn. had no real PG. But she was a helluva shooter. I think Katelynn has more mobility though.

We used to have a joke about Shanna back in the day...that she wasn't supposed to be able to shoot like that, she was a white girl in funny socks. But we loved her to death. She's had a bitof a hard run since then...a bad marriage and a worse divorce, during which time she took refuge in Pat's lower level for awhile. I think now she's back coaching at the high school level, something she loves.
