Flaherty broke the record of Diane Dietz who set the record in 1982 with 2076. Flaherty is up to 2230 now and should end her career over 2500 points. That will be a very impressive college career.
But that made me wonder about the scoring records at other major schools. Are there any colleges that have had DI programs for at least 35 years that haven't had a 2000 point scorer? What are the records at other programs, particularly those that haven't had superstar scorers. For instance my alma mater, Cal, has had only 2 2000 point scorers in its history. Colleen Galloway(1981) who has the record with 2320 and Ashley Walker (2009) who scored 2142. Kristine Anigwe, barring injury, will reach 2000 points towards the end of this season or the beginning of her senior year and will wind up as Cal's leading scorer.

I know Florida's record has been held by Merlakia Jones for 20+ years with a cool 2001, so close...

WOW! I'm shocked that Delisha Milton Jones isn't the all-time leading scorer in Florida history.

Purdue has had high scorers, but I think it is interesting that the career scoring record is more than 25 years old. MaChelle set it in 1991, and the likes of Shereka Wright, Stephanie White, Stacey Lovelace, and Katie Douglas haven't been able to catch her.

St. John's didn't have one until Aliyyah Handford in 2016, who broke a 36-year-old record. (and I got to see it and there was much squeeing)
Seton Hall's still looking for one; when Tabatha Richardson-Smith broke the 27-year-old record, she did so with 1925.
Iona got theirs when Damika Martinez looked at a record that was 25 years old, said, "I got this," and beat it to hell and back again. (It was 1894. Damika ended with 2581.)
LIU only has one, but the record Ashley Palmer broke was only nine years old.
Fordham has two, the most recent in 1989... and, well, I don't think there are enough possessions in Fordham basketball these days to get anyone to 2000.

Mercer has had three 2000+ point scorers, with Kahlia Lawrence likely to join the group this year. Andrea Congreaves hold the school record at 2796, well out of Lawrence's reach. Congreaves graduated in 1993. Lawrence could surpass Vivian Humphrey's 2284 for second all time. Emma Mumphrey is the other, scoring 2098. Hump and Mump were teammates in the early 80's.

It seems that all of Notre Dame's individual career scoring-related records are held by the trio of Skylar Diggins [-Smith], Beth Morgan [Cunningham, now ND associate coach], and Katryna Gaither. In terms of career points, Diggins is first with 2,357, Morgan second with 2,322, and Gaither third with 2,126. Ruth Riley is also over 2,000 with 2,072.
Morgan and Gaither were classmates. Two 2000 pt scorers playing together.
Loyd and McBride come in at 5 and 6 in ND's record book but both came up a little short of 2000.

I saw Flaherty in high school playing AAU ball, on the same team as the Mabrey sisters, and didn't think she'd be this good in college.
I wonder if any school has a 3000 point scorer but no 2000 point scorer. |

She's such a little slip of a thing that you wouldn't expect it. She's a tireless worker. I worry that all of the extra shots she takes before/after each day and having to play PG are going to wear her out. She's battling back problems.

Marquette's all-time leading scorer Krystal Ellis had 1,940 points. She graduated in 2009 and broke the previous record that had been held since 2000 by Abbie Willenborg (1818 points). I've always been impressed with the 1,745 points Kristin Maskala put up in 3 seasons at Marquette after transferring from DePaul - she would have certainly gotten the scoring record had she played all 4 years at MU.
Current junior Allazia Blockton is on track to break Ellis's scoring record and will likely break the 2,000 point mark (she is just over 1,500 points for her career now).
An interesting thing about Marquette's current players is 3 of their juniors have eclipsed 1,000 career points - Blockton did it last season and Natisha Hiedemann and Erika Davenport reached that mark this year. And the other starting juniors - Danielle King and Amani Wilborn are on track to pass 1,000 points as seniors. According to Marquette's release, they are now one of 10 schools with 3 active 1,000+ point scorers.
