I think it’s still 4 since it doesn’t appear that Chicago State has won yet.

Still 4. Winthrop hasn't beat a D-I school yet, so 5 if you include them.

Air Force 0-16
Chicago State 0-18
Iona 0-16
Mississippi Valley State 0-16
Winthrop 1-14 (0-14 vs D-I)

Thanks for the correction. I must have been tired last night to have forgotten about Chicago St. They also played yesterday, but got spanked by Utah Valley St.

I think they should set up some games against each other so that SOMEBODY can experience winning. Also if my team is that crappy, why not play some D2's in preseason? Or maybe they should add a playoff in postseason for the winless teams.

Those already exist. They are called the MEAC and SWAC.

Air Force had its second straight 1 point loss last night, 40-39 to Colorado St. The Falcons are now 0-16 for the season. Their next game is at Fresno St on Saturday, but the following Wednesday (1/24) they are home against Utah St in what is likely their best chance for a win. Hopefully they can pull off a victory.

Iona was down as much as 19, stormed back to within 2, but couldn't quite get over the hump at Manhattan, going down 67-63 to fall to 0-17. We put up one hell of a fight in the fourth, though, and I think this team's mettle is being tested. Whoever survives and doesn't say "fuck this shit, I'm outta here" will be stronger for it. I'm a bit reminded of the years immediately after the 2006 St. John's tournament run, though I don't know if any of these frosh have the maturity and the mettle of my most favorite Joy McCorvey.

Of the remaining winless I am most confident that Iona will be able to get a win this season. Indeed I believe they will get more than one. While the Gaels could win any game left on their schedule with the exception of Quinnipiac, the most likely possibilities are next weekend against Rider and St Peters. I believe that once they realize they can win they will keep doing it.

I keep rooting for Iona and AF and chicago State too - I must be soft, but it breaks my heart to see them lose game after game.

Le sigh. We couldn't stop Kollyns Scarbrough, and Iona goes to 0-18 on a 70-48 loss.

This too shall pass, once we find a point guard, and maybe a center, and we could probably use a small forward too.

Air Force can’t even play now with the government shutdown.

I guess they just needed the government shutdown. Actually AFA has been playing much better of late, and this looked like their best chance for a win.

After an ugly first quarter Air Force controlled the game the rest of the way. They took the lead for good 11-10 just over a minute into the second quarter. leading 27-17 at the half. Utah St. never got closer than 6 in the second half. The final score was closer than the game as USU scored the last 5 points in the final minute to cut what had been a double digit lead most of the final quarter.

The leading scorer for the Falcons was Kaelinn Immel with 16. Cortney Porter added 14 points and 9 rebounds.

Now it it down to:

Iona (next games: 1/25 -Rider, 1/28 - St Peter's)
Chicago St (1/27 - UTRGV)
Mississippi Valley St (1/27 - Jackson St)

I will go out on a limb and say by Sunday night the list will shrink.

Well, Iona's down at half to Rider, but I have faith I'll see them do it on Sunday against St. Peter's. Because if not I will be very annoyed, because fuck Patty Coyle.

scary thing is Iona has talent...even with the Injury to Lesko they are better than being winless...but poor coaching and lots of me over we...shame cuz Lewis, Clay and Abiola are worthy players...but way too much me over we...but that's what happens when you run off your senior leader who still comes to games to senior lead.

Yeah they won the MAAC 2 years ago with a blend of Bozzella's Kids (Joy Adams and Robinson, but also HER recruits (Clay and Lewis, who are her best players today) and now...THIS.

Oh GOD(sey)

Winless no more

Mississippi Valley St 72 Jackson St 61

The Devilettes get their first win. I was able to see the last few minutes on You Tube but there was no sound, and I have not seen any stats.

Tori Lesko's still in a boot for Iona, but Talah Hughes is in a boot for St. Peter's.

This might be the day! Seize it, Iona! (but hold on tight, it's slippery when wet)

IONA WINS 52-42 over St Peter's

I will give Queenie the honor of the write up as she attended the game.

Congrats to the Gaels.

That leaves only Chicago St winless.

IT HAPPENED! AT LONG LAST IT HAPPENED!

Rebounding at the right times was key. Hitting free throws was huge. Kristin Mahoney, for one glorious day, shook off her deer in the headlights tendencies. Alexis Lewis did Lex things. Treyanna Clay hit in the clutch. Jayden Eggleston got all the rebounds.

IT HAPPENNNNNNNNNNNNNEDDDDDDDD YOU GUYS Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

So it's just down to Chicago St. ?
C'mon let's all root for them. The problem is they are really more like a D2 or D3 school anyway.

Yup. Let's send them all the good vibes we can. It's not like they'll go to waste.

Agreed. That is why I started the post.

Chicago St has 8 games left. It's hard to say which game might be their best chance for success because their three closest games so far were a 3 point loss at Wichita St (who just beat So Florida), an 8 point loss to Seattle (tied for second in the WAC) and a 10 point loss to Illinois. Their next game is at home on Thursday vs Cal Bakersfield, who they recently lost to by 14 on the road.

Go Cougars.

I don't really see the point of EPSN putting up an article like that. Are they going to follow this streak like they do UConn's win streaks?
