UMMC has already signed Kristi Toliver and Maya Moore. Now we hear that Jamierra Faulkner is already in Russia working out with the team and will join them once her work visa is complete. Maya was already slated to replace Diana Taurasi. Faulkner and Toliver might be there because Deanna Nolan hasn't been able to play. |
I follow Faulkner on social media and she has been with the team since their season started back in the fall. I doubt it's some sudden/recent thing with Nolan's current form.

You listed Dabovic with 0 points but did she even play? I suspect her possible injury is the only thing keeping Plum there since Kelsey was actually useful last Euroleague game. Plum needs to go to a lower-pressure team where she can get minutes and refine her game.

That's one of the games that I do not have full statistics for so I just went off of a picture of the scoreboard that Fener tweeted. Dabovic did not commit a foul so there's no confirmation that she played. There is no restriction to switching between foreigners between games so that means they chose not to dress Plum. When I said that Plum would be a smart signing for a European team last year, I definitely did not have a top 5 team in mind. I thought she would go somewhere where she would have time to grow and make the adjustment to the European game, which theoretically suits her style. They still need Plum for EuroLeague since without a naturalized Turk, they realistically need five or preferably six foreigners in their lineup. The interesting thing will be what happens if the domestic league playoffs run into WNBA training camp again. I believe both Fener and YDU kept all of their players through the finals even though they had more foreigners than the four allowed in the league. |

Yeah, from what I remember everyone stuck around to the bitter end last season, even the ones who were essentially just paid spectators.
I still don't get how Plum's agents can bitch and moan about her not getting to play in her 'true position' of point guard in the WNBA, then send her to a Euro team where Birsel Vardarli is already on the roster. And it's not like Vardarli was a new or surprising pickup. She's been entrenched at Fener for years, and she's nothing other than a point guard. I can only assume it was comfortably the best offer they got, and money overruled sense.
It's not gonna help Plum's cause in Vegas (assuming she's still on that roster) if she shows up late and Jefferson's been running the team for weeks already. Laimbeer tends to mess around with his lineups when the team hits a bad stretch, but Plum may have to wait a while to push her way back in again. |

Do you have the playoff format for China? They changed things due to 14 teams but I assume it's top 8? I also checked the Eurobasket/asia-basket site and they haven't noticed that Tina Charles was replaced by Candace Parker. Tina's putting up some great numbers!

Yes, it's top 8 with best of 5 series in each round. It's a much simpler format than the last two years.
Fowles was not rested in the last game. She has an injury and is considered day-to-day. Also in news for the last round of games on Wednesday, Elizabeth Williams will not be played by Liaoning after they were eliminated from playoff contention.
Not that I expect a site with as much reach as eurobasket.com to have someone fluent in every language, but there are many ways to confirm that it is Parker and not Charles. |
