12 Noon, SEC Network

If the Lady Vols would simply slow down, set up, and pass into Russel in the low post, they could score every time down the floor.

Instead, after jumping out to an 8-0 lead in part by doing just that, their single digit team average basketball IQ took over and now it's tied at 16 at the end of one Q.

This is a total talent mismatch. So why is it a close game?

Tenn has been playing lousy for several weeks. Nared is completely out of sync with the rest of the team today and I think that's affecting everyone. And their perimeter defense is terrible. Sigh. They should be up by 20+ points by now based on size and athleticism alone, instead of tied at 28.

LV lead 37-32 at halftime.

Vandy is 4-12 with all four wins coming against RPI 100+ opponrnts.

Sigh.

The difference is outside shooting. Vandy's made 7 3's, and Tenn can't throw it in the ocean today.

Well, Vandy now leads by 4 as the third quarter winds down.

They just said that Vandy has NEVER won in Knoxville. Ever.

If it wasn't for Russell, Tenn would be down double digits today.

Tenn makes a buzzer beating 3 to take a 3 pt lead as the third quarter ends.

Three quarters of **** basketball before finally getting it in gear, led by Green, who badly needs more PT.

Talent and size finally wear down Vandy. I'm not sure the LV quality of play improved much in the 4th Q.

She finally made a couple of shots, but most of the game my reaction to Green is "why is she playing"?

She's lost in space most of the time.

She had 17 pts (7-8 ) and 5 rebounds (4=off.) in 21 mins, and she fits in the offensive flow better than Russell. She's one of the reasons the team offense improved in the 4th qtr. Russell had 33 pts in 38 mins, and her offense is largely one-on-two move-and-shoot whenever she gets the ball. Green is also a better defender in the man-to-man.

This is the second straight game where Tenn struggled for 3+/- periods with teams that likely won't even make the NCAA's. Then when they pull it out they celebrate like they just played a great game and beat a really good team. Rolling Eyes
