I would really appreciate help in picking the games for the next few weeks. My schedule will be very difficult throughout January. I was hoping that Cardinal would return by now but no news so far. If 3 people could each pick a week it would help me out quite a bit. Just take your favorite week, 10 (January 13-19), 11 (January 20-26) or 12 (January 27 - February 2) before someone else takes it. It's really a lot of fun. (This is known as a Huck Finn sales pitch). I'll be able to keep up with the scoring as I can do that Saturday night or Sunday morning.

The week 9 games are spread among 9 different conferences, with no more than 3 games from any one. More than half of the games are on Sunday so please make sure to get your picks in by Saturday night.

WEEK 9

Ohio St - Michigan
Seton Hall - Butler
Marquette - Creighton
Drexel - James Madison
North Carolina St - Duke
Michigan St - Minnesota
Northern Iowa - Missouri St
Alabama - Arkansas
Oklahoma - Oklahoma St
Stanford - Arizona St
Oregon - UCLA
Georgia - Kentucky
Rutgers - Purdue
DePaul - Creighton
Kansas St - Iowa St
Notre Dame - Louisville
LSU - Alabama
Arizona St - Oregon St
Duquesne - George Washington
Oklahoma St - Kansas St

Thank you Howee and Myrtle. for taking a week. Only one spot left - week 12.
Let me toot my own horn for what was my last, and perhaps my best prediction of last year:

Quote:
I made these games too tough this week.

I included this statement at the bottom of my week 8 picks, and so far I am a cool 0-7. I nailed that one.

Week 8 is in the books, sort of, and not a moment too soon. I say sort of because the Drexel - William & Mary game was postponed until Tuesday, January 9. I will include the results of that game with the week 9 results rather than leaving this week open. This was the toughest week of the season, certainly for me, but for the second week in a row Pilight took top honors by correctly picking 13 of the 19 games. Pilight has now climbed into a tie for last among players who have played every week. Come on Howee, we can't have you falling into last again. One more request for someone to choose the games for week 12.

Week 8 Standings

1) Pilight 13
2) Myrtle 11
2) Lynx 11
2) Dinkytown 11
2) Pureform 11
6) Linkster 10
7) Howee 9
7) Adamj 9
9) Summertime 8
10) Calbearman 7

Standings Through 8 Weeks

Rank-Name-Score-Wks-Average

1) Calbearman --102 8 12.8
1) Lynx ----------102 8 12.8
3) Pureform------ 96 8 12
4) Adamj--------- 95 8 11.9
4) Linkster -------95 8 11.9
4) Myrtle----------95 8 11.9
7) Howee ---------91 8 11.4
7) Pilight --------- 91 8 11.7
9) Dinkytown----- 81 7 11.6
10)UK1996 -------77 7 11
11) Summertime- 58 5 11.6
12) Cardinal ----- 26 2 13

Weekly Winners

Week 1 - Linkster, Pureform, Calbearman 14
Week 2 - Cardinal 15
Week 3 - Dinkytown, Adamj 13
Week 4 - Summertime, Lynx, Calbearman 14
Week 5 - Myrtle, Calbearman 13
Week 6 - Calbearman 19
Week 7 - Pilight 14
Week 8 - Pilight 13

You're right....we CAN'T have that. (If I take week 12, can I get some bonus points?? Shocked Razz )

I will--bonus points or not--do week 12 if no one else claims it. Cool

Since Myrtle picked the games for week 4 and will be picking week 11 you can have weeks 10 and 12, unless someone who hasn't picked a week would like to volunteer. Please post the games on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Week 10 - January 14-20
Week 11 - January 21-27

I'd very much like you to stay in the game. Don't worry about this week (or just pick the remaining games), but consider playing the rest of the season. That is actually why I started putting in the average wins per week played on the weekly standings. As the defending champion it would be a shame if you didn't finish out the season.

You could perhaps have given us more games that we might possibly remotely care about? Like, who is worse rather than who is better....

But this one gave me the biggest laugh. [you have to know Howee]

West Virginia @ Oklahoma St..............(Big 12's cutest coaches duel)

I was going to make a snarky comment about how it makes sense that Howee would give us so many matchups between losing teams because he feels more at home with those schools, but then I noticed a problem which, unfortunately, is due to a mistake I made. When I first asked for help on choosing games I somehow put down the wrong dates. The dates should have been from January 14-20, which would be Sunday to Saturday, but I screwed up. As a result he has included Oklahoma St - Kansas St which is already included in the Week 9 games. I will leave it to Howee whether he would like to just replace that game or to replace all of the games on Saturday 1/13, but in either case make extra clear which day of the week the games start so that people know when picks have to be in by.

Once again my apologies to Howee and to all the players for my mistake. I'm glad that Howee posted the games today so that it could be corrected before anybody made their picks.

Are we still gonna do this one? Because if we are, here goes nothin'! On account I got nothin'!

Monmouth @ Iona (This one's for you, Queenie!)
Houston Baptist @ Sam Houston State (It really did used to be Sam Houston Institute of Technology)
Iowa State @ Texas Tech (C'mon, Shimmy!)
Army @ Navy (Because I was born on the Academy campus!)
Villanova @ St. Johns (Sorry)
Lehigh @ American ((because why not?)
Arkansas @ Auburn (I think they can but it will be ugly)
Arizona St. @ Oregon (home advantage)
Vermont @ Maine (because JMU had a hard time with them)
Delaware St. @ Florida A&M ( home cooking, I guess)
Kentucky @ Vanderbilt (mostly because I hate Vandy)
West Virginia @ Oklahoma St (Cowgirls look good)
Oklahoma @ Kansas St (sorry, Howee, home cooking again)
Coastal Carolina @ South Alabama (same deal)
Pacific @ Pepperdine (Pacific just looks awful)
Washington @ Washington St (Go Cougs!)
Oregon @ Oregon St (should be a no-brainer but....)
Oklahoma State @ Oklahoma (Howee can't lose on this one)
Indiana @ Michigan St (more home cooking)
Toledo @ Buffalo (likewise, and should be a no-brainer)
