This is being discussed more generally in the WNBA forum, but it's interesting that there are five current college players in the pool of 29 players:

Napheesa Collier - UConn
Katie Lou Samuelson - UConn
A'ja Wilson - S. Carolina
Kelsey Mitchell - tOSU
Asia Durr - L'ville

Given that Dawn Staley is now the head coach, that may give Wilson the best chance. Not sure any have a high chance.

Eventually they are going to need them. However, I see Taurasi as the player who has really slipped of late. The bigs in the paint are plentiful so don't see an opening as early.

I just hope that if Wilson makes the team for '18 or '20 or whenver the next Olympics is that I don't have to read the endless sour grapes bitterness about how "she only made the team because of Dawn".

Hopefully we see an influx of Gamecocks on team usa in the future like the other school.

Really? She should be added before any other WNBA or college player? Is that what you are suggesting with your post?

I was saying she is a college player. That USA team should definitely consider. I think she should get a tryout.

Absolutely. Bird and Taurasi sent packing and replaced by Kaela Davis and Alisha Gray.

Geno was the ventriliquist that said "no thank you" when asked to camp this summer, which she ended up not being able to go to, but she said no.

After she got shat on, what did you expect her to do?

Can we keep the Parker griping to the thread in the WNBA forum, please?

Considering the Summer Olympics will be played in 2020, the odds are there will be players as yet named on the roster. Also considering Sue will be 40 by then and Diana 38, it is probable at least one, if not both, will not be on the roster.

Not if you listen to Callan. If they can still dribble (the ball that is) they'll be on the team.

IMPEACH CALLAN

When the 2016 team was announced all the critics were harping on Parker's omission.

Now it seems that the topic is age and allowing others to have a turn. But back in 2016 many of those making those comments now had no problem with Catchings going for her 4th gold medal at 38.

I posted about age with this back story, that on several occasions both Diana and Sue had hinted in very strong terms that with Geno gone that 2016 was more than likely their last rodeo. Diana also mentioned several times as did Sue that their careers were in their twilight so using the term probable in context with their age is a just follow up to their own thoughts.

I said at that time she should voluntarily step down, but these girls have huge egos and think they're the best regardless of age. If Catch wouldn't step down, nobody will. Which is why we need a committee and/or chairwoman with enough balls to make changes.

I agree with this. Taurasi and Bird and some of the others are getting up there, time for some new blood.
