I will take a look at those who picked late for week 3. Does anyone have any strong opinions against me accepting picks for games that happened after the person posted?

Since we have a repeat offender, I'd like to throw the issue out to the group. Should picks be accepted for games after they have already been played? This is all for fun but I know that everyone else has done well to make sure they get their picks in on time. If you have any thoughts you can post them or private message me.

Another issue has come up where people have not picked a game. I point them out when I notice them, but sometimes I don't notice until I am summarizing the picks for scoring purposes. This week there are two games that haven't been picked yet:

UK1996 - no pick for UC Davis - Oregon St
Pureform - no pick for Boston College - Providence

Summertime has been making his picks by just copying the games and bolding his teams. If people find that easier it is fine with me. Otherwise make sure you haven't left a game unchosen (i.e. USC vs LSU) or inadvertantly erased a game; just take a moment to make sure you picked each game.

Finally, the next two weeks are holiday weeks, which means messed up scedules for women's basketball (and most people). Because there are no games on December 24-26 and only 2 inconsequential games on 12/27, week 7 will run from Thursday, December 28 through Sunday, December 31 and week 8 will run from Tuesday, January 2 through Saturday, January 6. I will post the standings through week 5 and games for week 7 tomorrow.

To me, since it's all in fun, I think we give people the benefit of the doubt. Now if they post on Tuesday and have all the games to that point correct, I might change my mind.

Oh, Myrtle....you ALWAYS get huffy when I get all my games correct....what's new?? Razz Laughing Laughing

Cal, I don't care if it's the odd slip-up, to give the benefit of the doubt--lord knows, I may well need it/have needed it. (Hush, Myrtle!)

Otherwise, I say ::Huge Applause:: to Cal for doing this.....I look forward to this more than anything else here right now! Cool

Since it’s me, I don’t really care if you count them or not. I just don’t know which games are which days when I’m lateish to post Laughing so I just post all the picks I would do.

But I totally understand the valid concern. So punish me if you may. Surprised

As I have had what I can only call stupid typing problems trying to post the standings they will have to wait until tomorrow. (I am your basic 1 finger typist so when I get nearly done with a post and then it erases due to operator error, TWICE, it is time to do something else.)

Here are the games for week 7. Since there are essentially no games December 24-27, these games are all to be played December 28-31. All picks should be in by December 27, and since schedules will be off kilter getting them in early might be a good idea. Also, because the week 8 games will be posted before the first game tips off, please make sure to label the picks as week 7 - most people do this already.

Week 7

Purdue vs Rutgers
Michigan St vs Indiana
Georgetown vs Providence
North Carolina St vs Virginia Tech
Villanova vs Creighton
Minnesota vs Northwestern
St Mary's vs Loyola Marymount
Texas vs Oklahoma
West Virginia vs TCU
South Dakota St vs Florida Gulf Coast
USC vs California
UCLA vs Stanford
Milwaukee vs Wright St
Central Michigan vs Ball St
Temple vs Central Florida
Duke vs Miami
Syracuse vs Virginia
Michigan vs Iowa
Rutgers vs Michigan St
UCLA vs California

Good job Lynx, and you even corrected my week mistake. I guess I was a little punchy listening to the Western Illinois upset.

If you really wanted to be on his good side, you would have picked Cal in that last game. Razz

I don't mind both of you picking UCLA, I can just pick up a game. Seriously, I actually thought hard about eliminating that game because I had 21 games and I knew if I included it I would have to take Cal.

One last try at the week 5 standings. This was a very competitive week. 4 games were picked unanimously with us all being wrong on St John's-Fordham. The consensus pick on the other games were 8-8, so it was a tough week. Shout outs to Linkster as the only one to pick Creighton over South Dakota St, and to Dinkytown and Myrtle as the only two to pick Miami over Kentucky. Congratulations to Myrtle and one other lucky picker for getting 13 out of 20.

Please allow me a point of personal preference to rail against the ending of a game this week. Florida was playing Chattanooga. The Gators (who I took) led with less than 30 seconds to go but the Moccasins hit a basket to take a 1 point lead. Florida then came down and missed a shot and had to foul. And foul. And Foul. And Foul. And Foul. Florida needed to commit 5 fouls to get UTC to the line, In all Florida committed 6 fouls in the last 12 seconds (after being called for only 5 the rest of the game) and also called three timeouts over that time.

So why am I complaining? First, because of how long the end of the game took. But also for another reason --- see next post. I know it is petty but I don't care. This won't happen again.

With the shortened schedule all games for week 6 have been completed. There were only 3 games that were unanimously picked and we got all of them correct. Even more impressive, our consensus picks were 17-3, missing only Chattanooga over Florida, California over Kentucky (when will all of you learn) and Washington St over Nebraska.
