"You know, in 10 years Tennessee will be ranked #11 in the 5th week AP Poll after starting 8-0," they would likely want to know what you were smoking. In 1996-97 they lost 10 games yet never left the top 10 (Yes, I know, they did end up winning the NC that year).
Amazing how some things have changed.
I was just thinking that while watching the UT-UT game and noticed the records and rankings under each team.

Six of Tenn's next nine games are against currently ranked teams, incl #3, #5, and #6. We'll see what Tenn's ranking is after that.

Going into today's game Tenn had yet to play a true road game and the Massey rankings of it's opponents has been 32, 57, 94, 113, 127, 136, 152, 226 & 437.
I think if you read that in 1996 you'd think that they had the wrong team.
But I think Holly has done the right thing in scheduling meatballs at home early. And I think that watching how Tenn played today, despite winning the game they have a long way to go.

That three game stretch @S Car, @N Dame & home against Miss St will be a test of fire. Mid January is where a lot of freshmen hit the wall and Tenn's have played a lot of minutes. But first they have a game at Maples that should be good.

I can understand UT's schedule this year given their situation (relying heavily on younger players). Texas, however, doesn't have an excuse, IMO.

When I saw the headline, I thought it was going to say..."You know, in 10 years Purdue will lose home games to both Ball State & Ohio."

Look it up. I think Massey ranks DII teams. It has Carson-Newman, Tenn's annual exhibition opponent, at 161.
