Colorado (22-9) plays James Madison (23-5) in the opening round Friday night with a potential date with host No. 4 Baylor in the second round. CU junior Alexa Smith was named All-PAC-12 first team while senior Joclyn Hayes, juniors Naghede Abu, Frankie Chebby and freshman setter Brynna DeLuzio received honorable mention.

This is the Buffs first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014. Go Buffs!

Colorado upsets No. 18* Baylor on the Bears' home court 3-0, (25-12, 25-22, 25-20) to advance to the third round of the NCAA tourney for the first time in program history!

Junior Alexa Smith led CU with 14 kills and a .394 hitting percentage. Junior Frankie Shebby added 11 kills and a team-high 14 digs.

The Buffs will face their former arch-rivals from the Big Eight/12 era, No. 4 Nebraska in the Sweet 16. Go Buffs!

Unless Baylor had injuries, shows the strength of the Pac-12 when tied-for-5th Colorado can sweep 2nd-in-Big-12 Baylor at Baylor.

Nebraska will be tough. I believe they are #5 ranked in the tournament, and the coaches poll also has them #5, but RPI has them at #6. However, they are the only team to defeat #1 Penn State and they swept them at Penn State.

2017 NCAA Volleyball Sweet Sixteen At this point the coaches poll looks more accurate than RPI. The NCAA seemed to base their seeds mostly on RPI.

Big 10 (6)
#1 Penn State RPI #1 Coaches #1
#5 Nebraska RPI #6 Coaches #5
#7 Minnesota RPI #7 Coaches #8
Wisconsin RPI #18 Coaches #11
Michigan State RPI #23 Coaches #12
Illinois RPI #26

Pac-12 (5)
#3 Stanford RPI #5 Coaches #4
#11 Utah RPI #9 Coaches #13
#10 USC RPI #11 Coaches #14
#15 UCLA RPI #17 Coaches #17
Colorado RPI #24

SEC (3)
#2 Florida RPI #2 Coaches #3
#4 Kentucky RPI #2 Coaches #6
Missouri RPI #34

Big 12 (1)
#6 Texas RPI #4 Coaches #2

WCC (1)
#13 BYU RPI #15 Coaches #7

Top 16 seeds who didn't make it:

Missouri Valley (1)
#16 Wichita State RPI #14 Coaches #20

Big East (1)
#9 Creighton RPI #10 Coaches #15

Pac-12 (1)

Thank you for the overview tfan.

Utah is another dark horse worth keeping an eye on. I've a hunch they're going to take down Texas.

I'm sick that I'd have to have ESPN 3 to watch CU-Nebraska. This sport deserves better coverage than this.

Go Buffs!

Great to see the Pac 12 with 5 teams in the final 16. Hopefully 1 or maybe 2 can get to the Final Four.

They almost did it. Texas in 5, 16-14 in the fifth set. I added up the total points for the match and Texas had 106 and Utah 105.
