Well yeah they get a nice chunk but they need someone to play pre season so all the newbies can get minutes as it will be much more difficult when the OOC starts and until they get to AAC

Fort Hays State scores the first bucket, then the power goes out in the arena, the game is called off, and goes down as a 2-0 victory for Fort Hayes.

Irregardless the game or the opponents it's nice to see a scheduled game posted in this familiar format after the long summer. Very Happy

It's only preseason, but it's free online video. I'm eager to see the starting lineup.

Any other schools broadcasting their preseason games?

I think handicapping would be appropriate. How about if all the UConn players have to play with their dominant hand tied behind their backs?

Indeed, but why isn't this posted on the Game Day forum?

Ft Hays is pimpin' their basketball teams. In addition to UCONN the women's team is also playing Kansas State. The Fort Hays State men's team is playing Kansas State and Kansas in preseason games. Ch-Ching, ch-Ching.

One other aspect: The players, most of the time, love the opportunity to play against big-time teams, even when they get crushed. It's a win-win situation -- if your shot gets blocked, big deal, that's supposed to happen; but if you score, you can be watching TV later in the season and say "Hey, I took that kid to the hoop."

Also, unlike football, there's not really a greater risk of injury playing an elite team.

A couple of years ago UConn buried Abilene Christian in an exhibition. Both their coach and their players loved every minute of it and when they went on to win the D2 championship they said that they learned a lot by seeing how UConn went about their business.

UConn is playing Ashland, another D2 champion this year. I think it's a great experience for players who otherwise get very little exposure.

Right now it's kinda sounding like Geno is enamored with Dangerfield's improvement from last year and says Stevens, even though she's been practicing with the team for over a year, has a ways to go to catch up with the rest of the team defensively. I guess we shouldn't be surprised if Dangerfield becomes a starter and Stevens comes off the bench for big minutes.

No one got hurt

The reputed perimeter aces Samuelson & Stevens were a combined 1-10 from behind the arc while the starting guards hit 7-11.

A one-sided blowout but who can complain, the season is here. Hoorah.

You may have the same question in March and April. It seems clear that the four returning starters plus Dangerfield and Stevens will be big minutes players in big games. It's not clear to me that anyone else will be. But, of course, it's clearly a bit too unclear to be clear at this point.

With UConn the answer comes early. UConn starts out with games against Stanford, Cal, Maryland & UCLA.

Last year UConn had 4 actual starters and 3 others who acted in support. This year, IMO, they have 6 actual starters. How many supporting players? They will need 2. I think Camara may be one of them. That means one of the freshmen or one of the other 2 sophomores needs to fill that slot. KLS, Stewart, KML & Moore, all former No. 1's made contributions as freshmen and it's not unreasonable that Walker will be a contributor.

As long as she contributes at a 1 for 6 clip, I'm good with that. Very Happy

I was actually somewhat surprised at how few minutes Geno played his newcomers last night considering it was an exhibition.

Freshman contributing doesn't really surprise me these days.

In the first 3 mins of her CT career, Walker missed 3 bunnies. Ashley Battle 2.0?

Gotta love 6'6 perimeter players going 0-4 from downtown.

Confused

Alas, hooray, the season is here!

If Geno doesn’t play the Freshman, the game at South Carolina could give Dawn a chance to see some of her future players up close, and help her get 1 or 2 of them if they look to transfer.

It looks like Gabby is stil the only player on the team who can defend the other teams center, could hurt her draft stock, but at this point she’s probably an undersized power forward in the W, how high will she be picked.
