Official. Sold to MGM.

Seats 12,000, hosts Play4Kay.

All three MGM hotels will probably give away tickets ...

Great job by the WNBA.

Now that all the official announcements have been made can the WNBA announce a date for the 2018 draft lottery. Please.

The original original name was Utah Starzz.

Any chance they represent the whole state of Nevada? I doubt it since everything seems to be about Las Vegas. The city is pounded into your heads at this point.

This happens with every team name change, a deluge of corny or old fashioned names. Nothing hip or modern. "Glitz" almost does it for me... gets that "z" in there to pay homage to the Starzz name. I have a feeling they'll end up sticking with the same name, Stars.

I like Mohave & Grand , but still hoping for Las Vegas Thrill ! Wait then they would be referred to as the Thrillers

Not a good time to be associated with Mandalay Bay.

Of my own suggestions, I prefer the Las Vegas Lights. It's alliterative and evokes a positive mental image of the Strip.

Here come the lights on the fastbreak ....Sounds like the arena is about to go dark very quickly. Lights vs Wings #LightWings idk thought we were the only franchise with a horrible nickname Laughing

Jefferson is small. And so is Plum. Jefferson could have a longer wingspan for all we know. But Plum is heavier.

The Las Vegas Neon would seem very WNBA-y. Abstract and largely meaningless. And it might be a bt mercenary, and a bit too 'of the moment', but Las Vegas Strong wouldn't surprise me.

That was the name of their Lingerie Football League (now Legends Football League) team. They played at the Orleans Arena.

Yeah, and Evil Bill is famous for saying he likes big guards. They could both be gone.

There is already a Wiki page for the Las Vegas Stars - so apparently no nickname change.

Deciding to trade both would be less than smart. What “big guards” out there are worth trading for, or available through trade? Trading for any of his point guards in NY seems like a step backward. The “best” one in Boyd isn’t worth MoJeff or Plum imo. While Boyd is bigger, both are better offensive players.

Yeah, it's not like anyone can sign up and edit or re-name Wikipedia pages or anything.

They can and do. And then it gets reverted if not accurate. But OK, my bad, I guess Wikipedia is reflecting the move but using the last nickname until a new one is provided.

I can't be the only one to notice the irony here, in that Nevada is known as the Silver State...

Bill does seem to like taller guards but I wonder how much of that is because taller guards are usually better defenders. Most of all, he values skill and tenacity and I suspect that he will be in love with Moriah Jefferson's point guard skills. He'll have Kayla McBride in the back court with her. He might try to trade Kelsey Plum but she could be a useful combo guard coming off the bench. The team might have ended up with only 8 wins but that was an 8-10 second half for that team. I don't expect them to make the playoffs next year but they will be very competitive.

Not sure why a duplicate thread was started, but unfortunately the board software doesn't allow me to merge the 2 threads together.
Let's stick to one thread for the Stars
