I'm guessing suspended for the season.

Not sure how much of a factor she was going to be next summer with Cambage coming over, but even more reason to focus on post in the draft, if you doubted that before? Of couse, maybe Shaqator will kick butt in Russia and surprise everyone except Bibb and Miller.

Taurasi and Plum were bored by the traditional rules of basketball and started a brick-laying competition.

Wow, UMMC held to 43 points on 29% from the field. That can't have happened often in the last decade or so. Not even against a particularly star-studded opponent, either.

As for Plum, it's funny that there was all the controversy over whether she'd start for San Antonio, and whether she could play alongside another point guard... and now she's starting next to Vardarli for Fener. I haven't caught any of their games yet, but presumably she's at most playing co-point guard even at this gig she and her agent got to pick overseas.

So the old over-the-hill DeSouza dominated Griner. Shocked Very Happy

Euroleague Players of Week 2 as determined by eurobasket.com

1. Allie Quigley
Quote:
She had the game-high 26 points adding six assists for Galatasaray in her team's victory, helping them to beat USK Praha (1-1) 82-77. In the team's last game Quigley had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range.

2. Emma Cannon
Quote:
In the last game Cannon recorded impressive 24 points and 8 rebounds. It was enough for Nadezhda O. to edge Wisla Krakow (0-2) by 5 points 63-58.

3. Alyssa Clark
Quote:
Clark showcased her all-around game by recording 23 points, ten rebounds and six assists in the last round. Despite Clark's great performance CCC Polkowice lost 70-73 to Sopron Basket (#2, 2-0).

4. Tina Jovanovic (192-F/C-91) of Sopron Basket - 16 points and 11 rebounds
5. Jelena Dubljevic (191-C-87) of Galatasaray - 23 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Amanda Zahui B (196-C-93) of USK Praha - 26 points and 10 rebounds
7. Marija Rezan (198-C-89) of USK Praha - 14 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Maria Vadeeva (193-C-98) of Dynamo K - 16 points and 10 rebounds
9. Kayla McBride (180-G-92) of Yakin Dogu BGD - 18 points and 8 rebounds
10. Sonja Petrovic (189-F-89) of Dynamo K - 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists

Petrovic had a very nice first week too. I'm thinking if PHX can work her back into the roster, losing Bonner could be much less painful.

Who is this Rezan? Very tall 6'6 and playing with Zahui. Might have to keep on eye on her to see if she keeps it up.

Edit: Rezan kinda looks like a tall version of Sammy Prahalis. Jet, it might be time to start a new fanpage. Wink

Rezan's maiden name is Vrsaljko. Solid through her career: http://archive.fiba.com/pages/eng/fa/p/rpp//q//pid/43770/_//players.html
Last year she posted up a 27+23 in Euroleague for CCC against Sopron, so she's capable of big games, but that's not happening often.

I saw a lot of Rezan a couple of years ago when she played for Avenida. On the positive side, she has nice midrange shooting touch for a player 6-6. On the negative side, she is skinny and gets pushed around -- I mean really pushed around even by small forwards. Don't know if she's gotten any stronger in the last two years.

How are Fenerbahce 3-0 with Plum, Vaughn and Dabovic? Easy schedule so far?

They have played the two promoted teams and beat Mersin by single digits so I suppose the schedule has not been strong.

Plum is in a mini-slump and probably was not the best choice for a team that has aspirations for multiple trophies, but how many players who count as European are better than Dabovic at her position? Vaughn is no superstar, but she's perfectly suitable as a post who counts as European. What they really could have used was a naturalized Turk even though they have a few national team players.

I don't know what the rules are in the Turkish national league these days, but given Vaughn's Euro passport Pum looks like the only officially international player on the roster. So if there's money left in the budget, a mid-season addition looks like a possibility (to help with a EuroLeague run, at least). All assuming a bonus American would be allowed into the country, of course.

Is Ariel Powers not expected to return from her injury?

The rules are still four foreigners (two non-Europeans) plus one naturalized Turk only. Since they carry an extra European player for EuroLeague, they have been at the limit in domestic league games even without Powers. Verameyenka is not as good as she used to be, but she's pretty solid as the fourth foreigner for now and there will probably be a few big games when they rely heavily on her.
