The Bryant the league needs is Karen Bryant.

I love that Kobe's twitter post called his daughter's shot a "Diana Taurasi stroke."

It's small, but using a woman as a reference (instead of, say, Curry) is sign of growth for the game.

Taurasi is part of his Mamba crew. Otherwise it'd be impressive.

He does tend to fangurl over Diana. Laughing My favorite was when he congratulated her for breaking the three pointer record, but didn't mention the start of the NBA finals. Laughing Laughing

That being said, I do think Kobe genuinely cares about women's basketball, likely because of his daughters. There are plenty of men that are part of his crew whose names he could have used as well.

I just like the phrasing. Similarly, I like that players like Kelsey Plum talk about their women athletic role models, instead of men.

It would be nice if more female players looked to females as their role models, or at least mentioned them when asked who they model their games after. It'd be a sign of progress, that these players are actually paying attention to the professional class they eventually want to join. It still seems far more common that you hear Kobe, Steph, Durant or whomever rather than Taurasi, Parker, Jackson etc.

I'm really uncomfortable with the Kobe/WNBA lovefest. Remember When Kobe Bryant Was Charged With Rape? I Didn't Forget, and Neither Should You I haven't forgotten that.

You can hold it against Kobe but what Kobe did or does is not his daughters' fault.

Why? We got Brian. Joe can be an assistant coach under Brian if he is wants that.
