Good for Gray, well deserved. I think Dallas will make a nice run next year.

Gray won the AP ROY 11 to 4, so I'm not surprised. (Do some/all AP voters vote for the WNBA official awards too?)

Voepel is right. The voters aren't engaged enough to get it right.

Yeah, me too, but I don't have any real problem with the result. It was a toss up. Gray having been at the front of the conversation for longer probably gave her the edge. Narrative tends to drive a lot of these awards, especially when so many of the voters don't actually watch that many games.

Could have gone either way, really ... two nice young players who hopefully will steadily improve.

It's an outrage that you won't be able to go back to your first post about how Sykes should be a ROY frontrunner and say "BOOYAH!" to it! Smile

This is the 5th time the #1 pick got no ROY votes. It also happened in 1998, 2000, 2005, and 2013.

That's sad in itself.

I guess I'll jump off the Dream bandwagon and find a new sport. Or maybe forget sports entirely given the complete inability of any team (or player) from Atlanta ever winning anything. Time to get back to my sewing.

Hope we get the all rookie teams soon. They usually get announced at the same time as the ROY.

Surprised Plum didn't get one vote. Just on the premise that that one voter just didn't know who to vote for.

Have we been told what the holdup was for ROY to have taken this long to be announced, in the first place?

The ROY played on a team that didn't have a home playoff game.

Last year the ROY was announced during the semifinals
