Banham would obviously be capable of putting up 30, but CON isn't the best situation for that. She's not the starter. JThomas is the starting PG and is probably having a career year. Bentley is the other starting guard, and she's a pouter. She would probably need to be talked down from the ledge if Banham was ever given a green light to go for 30.

Jefferson's got that injury situation where Colson is her only competition for a starting spot. Although I remember a close game early in the season where Colson was used down the stretch and Jefferson was benched, so it looks like Jefferson has progressed and gained the confidence of the coaching staff. Jefferson is on the worst team quality of talent wise. McBride was unusually off last night and obviously Jefferson had the green light to do whatever she wanted, and that she did.

I think everyone agrees Jasmine Thomas is about an average WNBA point guard -- that is, OK but nothing special. Alex Bentley is not exactly tearing up the league.

So if Banham can't get minutes with a bad team with a shaky backcourt what evidence is there that she's capable of helping a team win? Granted, she might score a bunch of points if she jacked the ball up every time down, as would be true of more than a few players, but the other aspects of her game wouldn't justify it.

Maybe Banham will emerge at some point, but right now she seems like the second coming of Tricia Liston (and a whole bunch of other guards who could shoot but not much else).

A big part of Liston's problem was she never really created her own three point shot. Not the best at creating shots in general. Banham has no problem with that. They're not the same size. Liston is more of a natural SF. Not a good comparison.

Like I said. Bentley is a pouter and becomes disengaged if sitting on the bench too long. Not the best environment for doing well if have to worry about stepping on toes, and then you have a rookie WNBA coach who probably doesn't yet know how to handle this level of egos. He wasn't doing so well with Bone, who was saying they never should have gotten rid of Donovan.

To me, Jasmine Thomas has steadily improved each year and is in very good shape. This is her 6th year now (same draft class as Maya), and she's at that age you report as "prime". It's going to be tough for a rookie to walk in and bump her off, even if Banham's mysterious injury isn't a factor. I predicted Banham wouldn't start, but I thought she be above where she's at now.

The important question should be: Do you believe the WNBA stage is too big for Banham? My answer is no because I've seen already flashes of great by actually watching her games (give it a try).

The real question for this topic is not whether she'll survive in the WNBA because what rookie hasn't gotten the gloom and doom talk if they've started out slow (Sloot, Diggins, Hill, Loyd?). It's whether or not she's capable of a 30 pt game. I'd say yes, but it doesn't look like it'll happen in her rookie season.

Sims had 3 of them and didn’t win ROY, I still think it should go to Gray, or a tie would be ok.

Actually, Odyssey had four 30-points or more efforts, but your point is taken.
