I spoke with Coates at the game tonight.
She's just in for the weekend. Said that if this were cross country, she'd be good to go, but is still working on her lateral explosiveness. Doctors haven't cleared her yet. Doesn't want to speculate about whether she's going to sign for the rest of the season because the Sky might need that roster spot when she isn't ready yet.
She seems committed to the team though. Nice young lady.
p.s. she also believes Allisha Gray should be rookie of the year, in her totally unbiased opinion.

Sky vs. Storm for that #8 seed. The Sky play the Storm twice over their remaining 6 games, both at home. Otherwise Sky have a tough remaining schedule. Storm play 4 out their last 5 games on the road. Dallas is also tied with Seattle for that #7/#8 seed with Seattle owning that tiebreaker. Hoping the Sky can sneak in and make the play-offs.
Remaining schedules
SKY:
vs. Seattle
@ Connecticut
@ New York
vs. Dallas
@ Minnesota
vs. Seattle
STORM:
@ Chicago
@ Atlanta
vs. Phoenix
@ Washington
@ Chicago
WINGS:
@ Atlanta
vs. Connecticut
@ Washington
@ Chicago
vs. New York

I know Sigur3 does not feel the same way but I hope the Sky make the playoffs with the 8th seed. The women have been working their butts off competing trying to win games to make it in the playoffs. If the Sky don't make the playoffs I will not be overly disappointed. I know that the Sky can compete with the best teams in the league and with two 2018 first round picks and a fresh 2017 first round pick the Sky will ROCK AND ROLL during the 2018 season.

If the Sky can take those two games vs. Seattle and the game vs. Dallas, they should be in good shape. Winning four out of six would be even better, and u think the Sky can pull off an upset(vs. Minnesota?).

I doubt Hooper will be on the team. She's marginal and her rookie contract is up. Deadly combination
Vandersloot/Faulkner
Quigley/Pondexter
Copper/Hampton
Breland/
Dolson/Coates/Parker
Faulkner's rookie contract also expires, unless this last year doesn't count and I believe it does count. Stocks has never worked with Faulkner so maybe she's not committed to her. Hard to say how she values in a trade after a big injury, so maybe she ends up staying. If she ends up playing overseas, that'll be helpful in gaging where she's at.
How about trading Pondexter back to the Liberty, since she showed off some facilitation skills this season. If she wants to stay in CHI as a role player, she definitely stays.
If both Faulkner and Pondexter stay, it's hard seeing them draft Mitchell as a fifth guard, unless she has a Plum-like season going after her record. They have enough holes in other areas.
I've always liked Copper or thought she was underrated (rookie Megdal had her pegged at #30), but I never envisioned her as a starter this soon if ever. The SF position is prime for a draft pick, and there will be a few good choices.
We can only assume Coates will be returning if she doesn't get signed this year. You know what happens when you assume.
Amber Harris? I root for her, but I've been thoroughly unimpressed.
Graves, I am somewhat surprised by her play. Nothing special but she could be a filler.
If the Big 3 in draft eligibles all declare early, CHI will be in heaven. How do you decide between McCowan, Stevens and the rest? I might ignore need at SF if I could get a couple more prominent bigs, especially a versatile big like Stevens. McCowan would kinda be like having Fowles back.

Faulkner could try and go elsewhere I guess. But coming off a major injury, I doubt many teams will throw money at her. Cappie wants to retire in Chicago, so I doubt she goes anywhere. I think they take DeShields with Atlanta's pick unless they get the #1 pick(Wilson). If the Sky make the play-offs, they'll likely pick a post at #5. Too many options to figure out depending on whether the Sky are a lottery team. We all know they got a gift in that trade for Atlanta's pick.

With only three years of WNBA experience she can't, actually. She'll be reserved, rather than restricted. |

She said that? Are sure you're not confusing her with someone else? I don't think anybody has wanted to retire in CHI.

Basically Coates replaces Graves, one pick replaces Harris & the other first round pick replaces Copper or Hampton. Plus their second round pick could potentially replace Parker or Copper/Hampton.

The Sky gave away their 2018 second round pick in the Boyette trade.

Could be:
PG: Vandersloot/Faulkner
SG: Quigley/Pondexter
SF: draft pick/Copper/Hampton
PF: Breland/draft pick
C: Dolson/Coates/Parker

Does this make Bulgak's contract good for the remainder of the season (& playoffs)?

It could; it depends on what they signed her to. |

So, by my calculations, if things with Atlanta don't occur naturally, then Sunday when the Storm come to town, the Sky should start shooting in theStorm basket. Thereby ensuring 2 lotto picks and guaranteeing that the Storm don't get a chance to go 5 for 5 in 1st overall pick opportunities since the dawn of the Bird-Jackson era.
