It was a double technical, but Ajavon got the flagrant

As I recall, only Johnson was shooting FT's though. So they called an extra one on Ajavon. I thought a Flagrant was a Techinical and if Ajavon got a double T with Johnson shouldn't she have been kicked out of the game for having 2 T's?

"Double T" as in 1 on each player, not 2 to Ajavon. So I assume Johnson shooting the FTs due the Flagrant.

I see Johnson first slapping Ajavon on the arm and saying something and then the very big punch. Ajavon lightly clutched her (something that happens all the time) and then responded with an arm movement that was more a shove than a punch and got the F1. I have no idea why the heck everyone is saying Ajavon punched her twice. A punch involves windup and momentum and touching is NOT the same.

This whole thing is ridiculous!!! I watched this game and was confused by what on earth was happening. To me, it appeared that Matee was stepping up to guard Glory, touching/holding her a bit and Glory's initial movement was like "get off of me" as she didn't seem to be really looking at her but was trying to get position. Perhaps Matee's objected to how Glory pushed her off because it no longer looked like a bball play and appeared to be strikes. I know there is a lot happening on the floor and both players were in the heat of the moment but the refs overlooked Matee's initial contact and only responded after Glory physically responded to Matee and fully turned her attention to her. What was called on the floor was markedly strange but more than sufficient. I don't think anyone should have been suspended but since Glory was suspended, Matee should be as well!
I know we've complained about the referees quite a bit but it is very odd to see how on the very same night and sometimes in the very same game, certain levels of physicality are allowed, certain people get beat up (NY wore Maya out on a few plays last night) and there are other folks that you can't breath on without them calling fouls. It's ridiculous!!!

The Dallas announcers were pretty certain Glory was going to get a flagrant, and maybe go home for the night.

I have to admit, I wish Ajavon would be suspended for a game as well. If not the rest of the season.

I’m glad Johnson is speaking on it, this is total Bs, I hope it doesn’t cost the wings the Playoffs. |

Glo is definitely physical without a doubt. I don't think there is any questioning that but imho, this seems unfair and sadly, she's out for their game against Connecticut.

I agree Ajavon should be tossed as well. But Glory playing innocent is laughable. Some could say she plays physical. I would say she often crosses the line.

Wings without Johnson even for one game will be a sad post rotation of just Thornton, Paris, Plaisance & Lewis. And the fact that it's versus Connecticut will be embarrassing. Jonquel Jones will have an easy time on Wednesday.

It's like Johnson has a track record or something.

I'm no fan of Glory. I think she is one of the dirtiest players in the league, but she has a point when she questions why the flagrant on Ajavon wasn't called until after she reacted. The obvious answer is, of course, that Cheryl Flores is one of the absolute worst in the business. Where is the punishment for Flores and the rest of the crew for missing the flagrant foul and allowing the situation to escalate? It's a huge player safety issue when the refs fail to call the first foul in a given sequence.

To me it's the usual Glory Johnson. Yes, it was a weak punch and yes Ajavon was extra. But I'm pretty certain throwing punches is specified in the rules whether or not they connect, and whether or not they are retaliatory. When a person has a track record (as Queenie mentions above) of not being accountable for their actions, well...
Instead of doing what she has a tendency to do on social media, maybe it's time to grow up and own the fact that yes you had a role in it, and your role is what earned you your suspension.
Okay, I deleted the last paragraph. Looking at the replay I think Glory got a little shot into Ajavon's neck. Ajavon gave her a shot or two and Glory threw the punch. I don't think it was Ajavon trying to play D as I had originally thought.

Exactly! I thought double techs would've been the end result. Idk how Matee received a flagrant. But what do I know? Lol
