I'm certainly glad the Storm are getting all this negative covfefe since it takes the spotlight off my 3 All Star team that is now worse than last season (and just as bad as the Storm now.)

The Storm has their franchise player(s).

The importance of elite players in basketball: The three teams at the bottom of the Changes list (thanks pilight) each lost an Olympian.

Los Angeles doesn't have any elite players by your definition. They won a championship last season. Maybe you can surmise that winning a championship once without elite players (through luck, bad reffing, what have you), but sustaining that kind of pinnacle of success is unlikely.

The Sparks are without the services of their Olympian, Ana Dabovic, and seem to be doing just fine, though I suppose some of that has to do with them brining back their only other Olympian in Sandrine Gruda. Smile

NY is switching it up.

The last two seasons they've had very impressive regular seasons from the start and then sputtered out. This year mediocre, slowly improving, look out playoffs, here we come for a deep run (maybe?).

I think this calls into question the Win Shares calculation. According to basketball ref. last season Catchings was worth 3.8 WS, while Angel was worth 3.1. So far, both teams 6 games worse, and in Atlanta's case they have a better supporting cast this season.

He didn't explicitly define "elite player", but I don't think he was implying that it was only players chosen by Geno Auriemma for the Olympic team.

Being an Olympian isn't the only definition -- but CP3 has been an Olympian and Nneka should be.

If Nneka is a role player what does that make Meesseman Rolling Eyes

If we ignore my hopefully obvious exaggeration then yes, neither is fitting to be the leading player of a good team. I don't think you can win 20 games with either one as your best player.
