awhom, I can't thank you enough for all the work and time you put into these reports. It's a tremendous addition to this board, and to our ability to understand and appreciate the women's game around the world.

"Thanks" is a small word here, but it's the best we've got ...

Thanks. I always forget to add in the WNBA time for players who also played collegiately. I need to remember this later when I handle the men's competitions with NBA players since there are even more of them.

I think it's only on livebasketball.tv with the caveat that they seem to have the occasional technical difficulties.

You're welcome Clay! It's a big world of hoops around there and it is cool to be able to learn more about it.

Bernadette Ngoyisa, there's a blast from the past! Surprised she's still playing.

Did Akhator leave Dallas to play in this tournament? I don't remember seeing any notice of this. I always imagine how dominant Nigeria would be if the Ogwumike's decided to play for Nigeria instead of the US.

She's only 34. She wouldn't even be the oldest player in the W this season.

Yeah, they did announce it: http://www.hoopfeed.com/content/2017/07/24/dallas-wings-forward-evelyn-akhator-named-to-the-nigerian-national-team-will-miss-games-to-compete-in-afrobasket/

Not like she was doing anything in Dallas anyway.

Well, they would probably need some more backcourt depth, but having the Ogwumike sisters as the starters and being able to bring Glory Johnson and Elizabeth Williams off the bench to replace them would be pretty frightening.

Nneka could start at SF, with Chiney & Johnson starting at PF/C. Williams & Akhator off the bench. But no guards would get them killed vs. USA, Australia & Spain.

I should've clarified but I meant how *dominant in Africa* Nigeria would be. I imagine they would blow out most African teams even if they didn't have top level guard talent. Obviously they would need further development to be among the world's elite.

My understanding is that there are deep-seated issues within the Nigerian federation that make it unappealing for players to commit to the national team. Granted, I heard this a couple of years ago from a player who was likely marginal due to injury history.

Nigeria's federation is absolutely terrible when it comes to organization and basic funding. I don't blame any player who has another option who chooses a different country. For those who realistically only has Nigeria or no national team play, it becomes a gamble because exposure can be valuable.

The federation struggles with basic things like fielding youth teams. They had not named a Men's National Team head coach until last week with the Men's Afrobasket starting in a couple of weeks and they have not made any kind of squad announcement, having to pull out of exhibition tournaments because they had no players.

I wish Hakeem Olajuwon and maybe someone like Andre Igoudala would get FIBA to de-certify the current federation and let American-based people organize everything and work on sponsorships from this end. A significant portion of their current player identification process originates from one Nigerian-American guy who voluntarily does all the research to find young players in the United States who are eligible.

The player I heard this from is Nigerian-born, and I believe had been in their youth pool. So, yeah.

I'm honestly surprised they haven't tried to scoop up the younger Ogwumikes- if I recall correctly, they usually have more trouble finding talented guards than talented posts.

Maybe this is the catalyst for Nigeria to get their act together long term. Of course, the men's team has had several great results and can barely field a team this year, so who knows.
