My vote goes to Sykes because she does not fall on her ass all the time when she shoots jump shots trying to get the refs to call a foul on the defensive player.😆

As of tonight's game:

Sykes 380 points/29 games. (663 minutes)

Gray 380 points/29 games. (806 minutes)

This is getting close. Does anyone know if this is the closest ROY contest ever? Every one I recall was pretty much a runaway for one player.

WNBA ROY with 8 straight losses Rolling Eyes Padding stats while down 30 puts her up front for sure ! Does success matter to anyone on here? Even ATLs commentator Lachina stated it might come down to who makes the playoffs or finishes better. ATL doesn't look to likely to qualify...

Who are you trying to convince? - The people voting probably don't frequent this place. If they have even heard it, they likely think its a hangout for basement dwellers who have never had a girlfriend.
Wink

Besides - I thought you wanted your team to tank. Seems like 8 straight losses would sound like bouncing ping pong balls.

Oh randy it would but it seems were not headed that way so why not campaign for the less primary of issues! #PingPongsAreAlwaysPriorityin2017

I wonder how many people who voted for Tracy Reid or Korie Hlede would stand behind their vote in 2017?

You were looking for closeness in voting numbers instead of point scoring?

If it's too close to call on scoring points, it's hard not seeing them referencing the shooting percentages.

If they were truly basing it on who had the best rookie season, without considering the career that came after, I'd guess all the Reid voters and most of the Hlede voters would stay the same. The real question is why nobody voted for Margo Dydek, who clearly had a better rookie year than Hlede or Penicheiro.

Id still vote for Korie she was such a spark plug for that detroit franchise that year with Sandy Brondello ! I loved watching them especially when they got Wendy Palmer & Jenn Azzi !

Head to head did it for me tonight. Alicia was more efficient, scored more, and her team won. The choice would be clear for me if I were a voter for the award

Head to head did it for me tonight. Brittney was more efficient, scored more. Her team didn't win, but that's not a factor for ROY. Also, 4 more rebounds and 2 more assists. The choice would be clear for me if I were a voter for the award.

15 is more than 17? 4/10, 40%, is more efficient than 7/15, 47%? Three rebounds and one assist is better than seven rebounds and three assists?

Sorry, last I checked my WNBA app, they both only had 12 then I was watching on TV. Sykes didn't really stand out.

Solution... Co-MVP's. It's an extraordinary, close year for ROY!

It'll feel like a fix if that happens, considering each individual voter has to pick someone. I also wouldn't be at all surprised if a few of them go with Plum, just to complicate things.

Not wanting to be a Plum apologist for her slow start, but just watching some of the games it seemed that opposing players gave her a lot more defensive pressure (double teams etc ) than normal. I guess she had a target on her back to start out with. This is very typical when a player comes into the league with so much hype. Players resent that and often make an extra effort prove the hype wrong. It seems as the season wore the pressure on her sort of wore itself out into something more normal.

You're making it a player resentment thing when it's more likely coaches testing out a rookie PG to see if she can handle the pressure. Do the coaches not call out the double team?

Shades might vote for his favorite player whom he named "The Shaqator!" Razz

They attacked her because they thought they could exploit her ball handling weaknesses. Same thing happened with Shoni - they attacked on offense because they knew she was a weak defender, and some teams (Indiana for sure) went after her ball handling as well. It wasn't because of Shoni hype but rather it was the way to win. Same for Plum and opposing teams.

15 points on 10 shots is indeed more efficient than 17 points on 15 shots.
