After Fowles' terrible performance yesterday cost her team a game, I might as well vote for Nneka Ogwumike.

Candace Parker has been coming on strong since the all star break, I would't count her out just yet.

Parker? She isn't even the leading scorer on her team.

Voted for Jonquel Jones this time. She's still averaging a double double, still the highest scorer on her team and still the leading rebounder in the league and her team is 3rd in the standings.

She won't win MVP but she is the obvious choice for MIP.

Once again, an inadequate list of nominees, although I doubt Fowles loses MVP because she was over aggressive on defense and got into early foul trouble in a couple of games. The media panel doesn't choose MVP based on random simple algorithms. Some of their picks can be out of left field, like Catchings in 2011, therefore we should be given some left field options.

Should be Stewart, hands down. Without her the Storm would be in last place.

If they were on the list then they wouldn't be out of left field

With that argument, Vandersloot should be in the running.

MVP isn't just best player on mediocre team—it takes more to go from being a good team to an elite/super elite team than it does to go from bad to mediocre. I'm sure, for example, the Stars would be at least mediocre if Fowles had the same season she's having this year on the Stars.

But ROY can just be one individual doing well on a poor team though right ?

She should get at least some consideration if Sky make the playoffs. First half of the season hurts her case a lot though.

So if they think is doing best for MVP happens to be on the worse team on the league do they still deserve the MVP award ?

I don't think it's possible for the worst team in the league to have the best player in the league in basketball, as it is right now. Smile

I didn't follow the WNBA back then, but it looks like the great Laruen Jackson still won MVP in 2003 when the Storm missed the playoffs, and another MVP in 2007 when the Storm were only .500.

Also, they don't call it Most Valuable Rookie.

I think all the talk about being MVP has gone to Fowles head. The Lynx have won how many Championships without her on the team, so they don't need her to win games. How does that make her MVP?

Lynx wouldn't have won in 2015, wouldn't have won as many games last year, and especially this year without her. They didn't need her back when the Sparks were an inconsitent team before hiring Agler, and before Griner started playing like a superstar. Back then the Lynx could be undersized at center with the league's lack of elite centers of height.

If anything the list of options is unnecessarily long.
It could have just Syl and "other" and still wouldn't be close this season. One terrible week (she only averaged 15 & 10!) doesn't change that.
