Based on this season so far, it didn't help them much. Nor did getting No. 5. |
Wilson is light years ahead of Plum, and will bring great size to the Power Forward position. |

Would probably be playing more center in San Antonio, where Erika is decrepit and Vickie Johnson appears to have very little use for Kayla Alexander. This roster is still very much in flux and could be very different by the time Wilson theoretically arrives, but I wouldn't bank on her being a 4. |

Having her start at center will make them worse than this season imo |
I think this is the end of De Souza. Kayla has looked good at times this season, and I believe would be even better with Wilson as a strong 4. I actually believe they will make the playoffs next season if they get Wilson.

I forgot about Katelynn Flaherty, maybe she will have a 1st round draft pick performance this season, if not I think she'll go in the top 6 of the 2nd round. |

For scouting the Russian, Vadeeva.
I peeked in and saw her drawing doubles and finding an open teammate pretty well.

She is a big big talent. Wouldnt mind if the Storm got her but we dont know if she wants to come over though

Mitchell, Harper look to represent Buckeyes on national team
http://www.dispatch.com/sports/20170728/womens-basketball--mitchell-harper-look-to-represent-buckeyes-on-national-team
Quote: |
A blend of high stress and high elevation will await players invited to training camp for the U.S. women’s basketball national team for players 23 or younger in Colorado Springs, Colorado. |
Quote: |
Mitchell, twice the Big Ten’s player of the year in her first three seasons at Ohio State, has some experience with national-team training camps — she was a surprise cut from the U16 team in 2011 |
Quote: |
The training camp features many of the nation’s top women’s college basketball players, including Associated Press first-team All-America selections A’ja Wilson of South Carolina and Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesha Collier of UConn, second-team selections Gabby Williams of UConn and Mitchell, and third-team selections Lexie Brown of Duke and Victoria Vivians of Mississippi State. |
Quote: |
After Ohio State lost to Notre Dame in an NCAA Tournament regional semifinal in March, Mitchell said she would work to become “the most versatile player ever.” She has spent time playing off the ball this summer. |
Quote: |
In addition to practicing with her teammates, Mitchell regularly sharpens her skills at pickup games throughout Columbus. She has built a network of basketball contacts locally — if there’s a pickup game coming together, she’ll get an invite. |

Best part of this trade for the Dream - Dream will not be tempted to draft Russell.
edited to correct mistake.

If We end up with the 5th pick ill boycott outside the draft that night..We finish the tied for 8th but lose via tie breaker hopefully too seattle in which we've been massacred by twice. End up.with #1 or #2 bring Liz Camb*tch into the fold. If we get #1 Glory can go Well take Aja. if #2-4 Im looking for DD anyone else should be considered trade bait. Russell could be a serviceable backup. I dont think Gabby or Kelsey Mitchell will blow through the league as most predict.

"Hate" is too strong of a word. Intense disappointment may be more appropriate. I lost the fun in this unless it was fun to upset me.
I think the Lynx could afford to gamble on this Vadeeva making waves overseas. Thibault and Agler both being foreign player specialists might beat the Lynx to it.
If the Lynx are seeing promise in Jones, I hope they draft big in this class of forwards. It'll be somewhat disappointing if the best available is a guard, although I would be somewhat intrigued by Kia Nurse at #12.

OK
Minn #12 Vadeeva (That works for me I could see Agler taking her at 11 as well)
How do you feel about Vivians? Atkins? or S. Thomas? IMO Minn needs a wing as much as a post I think Minn could pull a post in Free agency. I'm also think Greenwell and Duke will have a big season moving her to borderline 1st round. If Nared is still on board i think she would be a good fit in Minn but with Deshields gone even with the 4 freshman I think Nared has a big statistical season moving her to mid/late first round.

Better draft than this year ... I see Wilson and Mitchell as solid picks with all-WNBA potential.
DeShields is a head case, but you never know.
Williams, Russell, Turner and Billings could all be starters in the league, and are likely at worst rotation players (though Russell could be a bust).
As usual, though, the dropoff occurs just past midway in round one (just like the NBA).

I think Williams can be a All WNBA type player and would project as the best player on Indy, Chicago, or San Antonio. I also think She can defend a number of WNBA post player, with Fowles and Griner being her only match up problems. |

I really like Gabby Williams, but the success rate of 5-11 post players in the WNBA is not all that high. If she can develop a three-point shot, she could be a very valuable wing, and if not, an undersized four who can cause matchup problems, but hard to see her as a post.

I have Vadeeva going to LA or MN also. Both teams tend to be either overstocked with returning players or limited by salary cap. You can stash Vadeeva overseas until you need her. It will also give Maria time to develop physically. She is already smart and skilled beyond her years. What Vadeeva needs to do is work on her body. I remember during Dolson's first two years at UConn, she didn't look like any kind of pro player. So, it's possible to make yourself a significantly better athlete. Vadeeva just turned 19 two weeks ago, so she's got plenty of time to work and improve if she's motivated.

I don't think SA should put all their eggs in the Wilson basket. Besides, not many teams win the lottery consecutively. It rarely happens. For their sake, hopefully they are more prepared. But, Williams or DeShields wouldn't be bad consolation prizes.
Chicago could end up with say DeShields and maybe Mitchell or Billings. So not a bad trade for them.

The league needs to change the rules to ensure that it never happens.

Everyone on this board must hate the Chicago Sky. So many of you having us use our pick on DeShields. I want nothing to do with her.
I would love to get Mitchell and a post (I like Billings a lot, btw).
Since you all mentioned Vadeeva, when is Cecilia Zandalasini eligible to declare? She's on my radar as well. She's a young, talented player from a European team with very limited success, meaning she'll be more available regularly.

Already been and gone, and therefore a WNBA free agent. Italy have been just as successful as Russia in recent years, though (i.e. not very). |
