Had heard this following the Dallas game. Sucks that we have to move yet again.

Shoutout to Glen for putting money up for AC to be put into Williams.

I would have liked there to be continuity for the playoffs but having watched my high school team play state basketball there, that place gets LOUD. Nothing like a little homecoming for DJ Whay Very Happy

Also credit to the Lynx for deciding and letting people know what's going on now - over a month before the playoffs even start. We've seen teams like the Sparks either hide that they're going to have to move or fail to make a decision until the absolute last moment in the past, even when anyone who's looked at the Staples Center schedule can see that a game is going to be moved.

It's obviously not ideal that they're having to move again, and for freaking preseason hockey, but given that it had to happen I like the way they're handling it.

The problem for hockey is that there is no nearby alternative for the Wild that seats enough for what is an insanely popular sport in Minnesota, even in preseason. The university's rink is Mariucci Arena and it would seat enough, however it is an olympic sized sheet, not an NHL one. Ridder Arena (where the women's team plays) is NHL dimensions, but doesn't seat enough.

It's temporary AC, which is what they tried in another time like 10 years ago for a Lynx game in Williams Arena. What they do is tap into the vents with trucks sitting outside. Wasn't very effective during a game in the summer, but maybe in the fall with technology advances, it'll work out okay. But man, I'd hate for this to potentially throw a wrench into another championship.

Whalen will feel right at home here. This could rejuvenate her for the playoffs.

I do. The Lynx won their share. Need different teams to win.

No, unless the AC is effective, old players don't do well in heat.

I wonder if they considered Mariucci hockey arena? They could play with the court installed over the ice rink. Some players don't do well with that either, but I think it would better to be too cold than too hot.

Williams has about 5000 more capacity, so I'm guessing that was a factor.

The Lynx let other teams win all the time (like how they let the Sparks win last year). It's about time they start winning games for themselves for a change.

Just a note: When I was younger, I used to hate to play in the heat -- I wanted it cool. The older I get, the more I want it to be hot. I get loose more easily, and stay loose.

I'm not saying that's true for everyone, but most of the old athletes I know like the heat better than the cold.

I'm in my 40s now and I infinitely prefer heat over cold for the same reason that Clay mentioned. I absolutely cannot get loose in the cold, especially if I have some soreness in my back or shins.
