I'm at the open practice right now, and I will tell you the energy level in the Arena tripled when the West team took the floor just after the East finished. There are a lot of really good players on the East, but the disparity in Star Power between the two is almost palpable.

I know this game is on ABC which won't be a problem if we don't have severe weather here as predicted. So will it also be on League Pass in case my tv goes out during the storm which Directv is known to do.

I can't look at that. I'm afraid of heights. They are up so high you can see the curvature of the earth.

In the US, I doubt it. They want everyone watching it somewhere where they'd count in the ratings. Elsewhere on Earth, like with the regular ESPN games, it probably will be.

No, ABC owns ESPN.... part of the ESPN contract. You can try at the ABC link I supplied.

3-pt challenge rules
It's a two-round, timed competition with five shooting locations positioned around the arc. Four racks contain four WNBA balls (each worth one point) and one "money" ball (worth two points). The fifth station is a special all money ball rack, which each participant can place at any of the five locations.

Every ball on this rack is worth two points.

The players have one minute to shoot as many of the 25 balls as they can.

The two competitors with the highest scores in the first round advance to the championship round.

It is my understanding that the link is not available in my area!! Guess I will just have to hope it doesn't storm. Thanks anyway.

The Stars announcer said that Candace Dupree is a 6 time all-star, and the 3rd player to make the all-star team with 3 different teams. Cappie Pondexter is one of them. My other guess was Taj McWilliams-Franklin, but based on her Wiki page she only made it with Miracle/Sun and Sparks. Unless they are counting Miracle/Sun as two teams.

Open practices were fun. I think Cheryl Reeve might be a little ambitious with trying to install offenses for the game, though. Shooting contests were cool, too.

I blinked and missed who punted the ball about twenty rows into the stands. I'm assuming it was Taurasi, because we know she's done it before, but I wasn't sure.

A few players actually went into the stands and signed autographs and posed for pictures- Dolson, Clarendon, and Jones.

Alyssa Thomas wearing the jersey as a cape was apropos and looked good.

I don't think a lot of the East fans have come in yet, which explains part of why the West got soooooo much more pop than the East.

Well, most of those West players should be plenty familiar with each other.

The second Starters vs Reserves contest got super entertaining at the end. With the Starters out to such a commanding lead, they got rather creative when they just needed to hit one outside shot from each of the 5 spots--scoop shot, facing away from the basket and shooting backwards, granny-style. Maya even made an attempt from the stands. Meanwhile, the Reserves were still trying to hit four in a row from either the 3rd or the 4th spot.

Stewie refused to participate in the pre-practice dance-off, but she ended practice and earned $100 from Reeve by hitting the halfcourt shot.

I thought Big Syl channeling Pistol Pete with the seated attempt was the best.

But look, Reeve was stumbling over explaining the offense. If the coach can't keep everything straight in the runthrough, it might be a little over-complicated for an All-Star game.

I'm pretty sure the third is Tina Thompson.

Go East! While West has more talent that probably would only matter in a real game where players play defense and are more interested in winning that personal glory. Since that is probably not the case, either team could win today.

yeah, didn't think that was wise. Especially since it looked tight. What if one of them tripped?
