Gray still has my vote, but Sykes has been playing at a higher level over the last 12 games:

Last 8 gms:16.6p/5.6r/1.5a/.9s/1.1b/43%/46%/64% in 30.9mpg

Last 12 gms:14.2p/4.1r/1.4a/.6s/.8b/42%/42%/66% in 26.7mpg

Atlanta got themselves a player.I believe Sykes will overtake Gray for ROY.The only problem is that Sykes is a SG,not a SF.Clark to advantage of Sykes multiple times in the post.Similar to dallas, atlanta must trade one of their wings to balance their roster.

If Sykes wins the next Rookie of the Month award instead of Gray, then we can start talking about Sykes possibly winning ROY. I still think ROY is Gray's.

Gray still has the lead, but Syke has come from nowhere to second place in about a month. If that holds up, could be real race by the end of the season. Their numbers for July a virtually a dead heat though Sykes has a little better shooting % while Gray is getting more rebounds. Gray gas the advantage of having been good for a longer period of time.

If Sykes becomes this months rookie of the month, has it ever happened in WNBA history where 2 different rookies won a rookie of the month award?

In 2015 three different rookies won ROM

Sic! It wasn't that long ago I had to twist toad's arm to put Sykes on the All Rookie team, and had to convince pilight that Sykes was a starter. Things change quickly.

If the last game is any indication, Gray is showing signs of coming back to earth. Seemed like Chong got more minutes than she has been lately. Sykes seems pretty stable so far, but if McCoughtry comes back, that should put a big dent in Sykes' chances.

I'd word that a little differently. In the nearly half first year team, Gray has had the advantage of starting from Day 1. Who is better is up for debate.

Hopefully the janitor doesn't get to decide ROY, as Ay Mate suggested. I forget... is it the coaches that decide ROY?

The ROY award can be a real badge of honor for a GM, especially if it's a late pick like Sykes. I wonder if that could be a factor in some of the decisions down the stretch in a tight race. Do what's best for the team or what's best for a player, should those two things conflict?

Both ATL & DAL could conceivably fall into the lottery or make a little noise in the playoffs depending on if they're in jekyll or hyde mode. I'll stand firm that it's better to be in the playoffs and get that #5-#7 pick than it'll be to get that #3-#4 pick and have no postseason fun. Deep draft. Some teams don't make the right picks (#1?,#2,#3,#5,#6... they might be good picks in the long term, but not in the ROY race), so why sweat it? Get in the playoffs and don't live for the draft.

Everybody remembers Prahalis won a Rookie of the Month in 2012. She made Ogwumike look like an amateur that month. Smile

Realistically at this point, there's no way Plum is making the All Rookie team. We have five locks: Gray, Davis, Sykes, Talbot & Whitcomb. Raincock gets honorable mention.

Prahalis was actually last year's clear leader in A:TO ratio.

Plum is now 4th in PPG for rookies and leads all rookies in APG. She's now sneaking into the All-Rookie team. Lisa Borders must be happy now. Sami Whitcomb is the one to likely miss out.

One of these players plays point guard, the other plays wing. How many rebounds did Sammy have?

OK Sammy had 4 games with 5+ rebounds and Gray had 8 with 5+ rebounds (and Gray is 5 inches taller). But I think you know that wasn't the point of this post. Rolling Eyes Everyone LOVES to point to the FG% as proof she sucked. i guess its only proof if it fits your narrative.

Didn't you say a little while back when Prahalis retired that you were done with the WNBA and rebkell and done with trying to argue your case that Prahalis is/was the best PG the world has ever seen? But here you are, making every post about Prahalis as always. Perhaps its time to see a shrink to help you get over this obsessive compulsion you have with this player that the world has forgotten about years ago.
