Alana Beard needs 1 steal to tie Delisha Milton-Jones for 5th place. 5 to tie Katie Douglas for 4th place all time. Will be nice for her to retire in top 5.

Barring injury those goals are a cinch. I wouldn't be surprised if she challenges the top three positions by season's end.

After a losing two game road trip, the Sparks return home to the friendly confines of the Staples Center and the Lisa Leslie Court where they remain undefeated this season. They have four games during this home stand: the Sun (July 13), the Fever (July 17), the Sky (July 20), and the Storm (July 25). The Ladies of LaLa have split the first two games with the Fever and the Storm and must win these next two games for their advantage in future playoff seedings.

Hopefully, the four day layoff after the loss in Seattle will have these players revitalized and ready to compete at their best. Of course, the July 22 date is the WNBA East-West All Star contest in Seattle and predates the next battle with the Storm.

Alyssa Thomas is the only non-guard with a better assist rate than Ace with 5.1 ASTs to Candace's 4.3 average. Sensational sophomore forward-center, Jonquel Jones, leads the entire league with a 11.8 REB rate. Even with Nneka's younger sister, Chiney, sidelined by injury this season, the Sun squad is a team of youngsters who appear to be coming into their own chemistry-wise. It is unwise to take any team in this league for granted: The Sparks better come prepared to play some serious ball---especially after two key losses!

Sun fan obviously, but I don't see the Sparks having much trouble against the Sun tonight. They just played yesterday, will be very tired and the Sparks will be extra motivated to snap a 2 game losing streak. I predict a Sparks blowout tonight. At least the Sun will return home after a 1-2 road trip on the west coast. Not a bad accomplishment.

This CT team is fun to watch. I may have a 2nd team to cheer for now.

Gray is down, got hit in the face by Nneka's elbow.

Niether Gray or Parker were set to take those 2 charges that were called on the Sun. Trying to give LA the game again.

Both the refs and the announcers are terrible homers. Refs don't call fouls on LA but go overboard with fouls on the Sun. Sun were going to maybe win this until all the bogus calls were made. So obvious.

lol. They called lots of fouls on LA in the first quarter. And A. Thomas could get called for O fouls almost every time down the floor. She's like a bulldozer.

And yet it was Cissoko-Stephens who made the worse of those two charge calls, when Parker basically had to clothesline AThomas to draw any contact.

I generally think the WNBA refs get too much criticism around here and on Twitter, but they lost any idea of what was going on in the second quarter, and it played a big part in LA's comeback.

Jones got away with an obvious travel, so wrong post to quote.

just when I'm thinking Lavender has become useless she makes a couple of plays. But with essence and Beard shooting like shit, and Odyssey still seeming to be injured, LA is not going to repeat.

It's so ugly. And half of them are illegal, because she steps over the line before the ball hits anything (they've actually called it on her a couple of times this season). I can only presume that coaches have tried to work with her to improve the motion, but this is the most effective it can get at the moment. I'm amazed 50%+ of them go in.

She should try shooting with her right hand.
