If the Sun win and the Mercury lose, the Sun move into 3rd place. GO DREAM!

Boxscore showing that one of ATL's starters is #15 Jordan Hooper.
She has been working hard on her tan since I last saw her! Shocked

Heads-up play by Leilani to beat the 1st period buzzer

That's why she was drafted 2 spots ahead of Jankoska

(but yeah - she's killing us tonight!)

But seriously, if Gray is out for a number of games, Sykes will have the ROY in the bag.

Dream seem to be crashing in the 4th quarter.

Phoenix seems to have found themselves here lately. Another solid win for them.

I'm curious why Sykes had 16 pts in the first half, and in the second half they weren't even looking to go to her until that last desperation three. Cooper stupor.

It felt to me like ATL were the better team for more of that game, but we hung in there just enough to stay within striking distance.
Camille Little with 6 offensive boards (and 12 total boards to go with 6 assists & 9 points) was important.

WHEW! So glad the Merc pulled that one out. I was worried for a bit there. BG with 28pts but not a starter on the All Star game. DT with her end of game 3pt dagger. She and BG play so well together. In fact the whole team did a good job tonight once they got it together. Love LM with her steals!

Very Happy Very Happy

So, Phoenix had 2 blocks. Griner, you say? Nope, they were by that human eraser, Leilani Mitchell! She needs to start wagging her finger like Mutombo. Smile

Good win for the Mercury. It shows that they can gut it out. If this was last years team, they would have given up and not even tried. It's nice to have BG lead the way.

Not surprising against Atlanta. The Dream are much better against teams with short centers like Indiana (Larkins) and Dallas (Paris).

Yeah - Griner even played great against us last year before she started to give a crap.

I'm no big fan of Michael Cooper but Atlanta had a great gameplan last night. The only way to neutralize BG (other than hoping she gets into foul trouble) is to play at a pace that doesn't let het get set up in the paint. It nearly won them the game.

Also, the Dream seem to have more patient ball movement in the halfcourt lately. It helps when you have a weapon like Sykes obviously but they're getting better shots the last few games.

I was at the game and I want to go on record to say that Phoenix won that game because of DT. Griner had more points but DT literally picked that team up by the britches and willed them to win. She took possession of that game and her team. You could see it happening and evolving. Her last 3 point shot that pretty much sealed the deal was really a no brainer.

I don't want to down play the impact Griner has had this season. I have been known to say several times the past 2 or 3 years that the fate of the Mercury is in her hands. But this team is DT's and will be as long as she wants it. And I don't think that Griner or anyone else on the team would have it any other way.
