Not necessarily on this team. Jones is a project and Adams couldn't guard Chiyonofuji, so if Tuck is still hurt, Pedersen might actually get some minutes.

Pederson over Hamson. I guess Tuck will be out longer than we know.

I'm just surprised the Pederson is the best they could do for finding an injury replacement player.

If you hadn't notice Jonquel is a little on the thin side. She's a banging four ala Kizer that can help in the paint and move the ball with her passing.

Hard to notice that when she is always in beast mode.

Kayla Pedersen thrilled with new culture in return to Sun

Quote:
It didn’t take long for Kayla Pedersen to realize that things around the Connecticut Sun have changed since she was last with the team in 2015.

Sun's Jonquel Jones On Record-Setting Rebounding Pace

Quote:
Jones is averaging 12.8 rebounds in the first eight games and is on pace to finish the season with 435. Tina Charles has the WNBA record of 398 as a Sun rookie in 2010, a season in which she averaged 11.7.

I can only imagine how good the Sun will be with a healthy C. Ogwumike & a mid-first round pick in 2018.

PG: JThomas/Banham
SG: CWilliams/Bentley
SF: Stricklen/draft pick?
PF: AThomas/Tuck/Pederson
C: JJones/COgwumike/Kizer

Ogwumike off the bench? She thinks she owns the team. How's that gonna happen?

It'll be A Thomas at SF, playing the same way she is now.

Id use Oguimike & JJ as my posts . Thomas can slide back to the 3 and keep Tuck & B. Jones from the bench with kizer. Pederson will be the cut most likely anyway. Along with adams when the draft pick comes in .

And they have 3 draft picks in the first two rounds, plus Romero trying to make the team. Conditions will be ripe for a Banham to Minnesota trade.

You never give up do you Shades?

BTW - I will say it looks like Banham has spent some time in the weight room last time I could see a close up.

Banham has seen more minutes lately, mostly due to Bentley being gone. But she's playing well. If anyone needs to be traded, it's Bentley.

Bentley is under a guaranteed contract. Doubt she'll be traded.

Next year's roster will look like this:

Jasmine Thomas/Rachel Banham
Courtney Williams/Alex Bentley
Alyssa Thomas/Shekinna Stricklen
Chiney Ogwumike/Morgan Tuck/Lynetta Kizer
Jonquel Jones/Brionna Jones
...and a draft pick.

Chiney said she is not playing overseas this winter so she'll likely come off bench until she gets her sea legs back (like she did last year). Then she'll start.

Until she starts, it'll be
Jasmine Thomas/Rachel Banham
Courtney Williams/Alex Bentley
Shekinna Stricklen/Morgan Tuck
Alyssa Thomas/Chiney Ogwumike/Lynetta Kizer
Jonquel Jones/Brionna Jones
...and a draft pick.

Gone will be:
Danielle Adams and Kayla Pedersen. Adams will be waived and Pedersen will be waived or used as trade fodder. Adams is dreadful. Pedersen isn't a scorer but she's a really good player in every other way but like Kelly Faris, she'll be pushed out of the lineup next season. The league is becoming too competitive now for players who aren't big scorers. To make it in this league, you need to do everything good.

In any event, if the team can stay relatively injury free next season and Ogwumike regains form like she did mid-way through last season, the Sun will be a team that is nearly impossible to beat. Curt Miller has become the best offensive minded coach in the league this year. Defense still needs a bit of work, like how to play defense without fouling though.

You could first person not calling Banham a bust. Of course, you're now calling Zahui a bust because Laimbeer doesn't know how to use the Russian League forward of the year. Your evals tend to be very in the moment.

Umm, no thanks. If she's accepting of whatever her role, I don't see why she can't stay. What worries me about your statement is that Reeve said in an article that not picking Bentley was their biggest draft mistake. This article was probably back when Bentley was on a hot streak and before Sugar got good. Really, Reeve, really?

Back in 2010 you could have picked Prince over Monica Wright. Prince now paying long term dividends. In 2011, you could have picked Lavender over Amber Harris. Oops. Lavender now paying long term dividends. In 2012, my pick was Shenise Johnson, but they picked Peters. I'll toss Peters a small bone for being a part of the 2015 run and helping us get Howard, but again, Johnson & Johnson paying long term dividends. The Lynx chose Sugar Rodgers with the pick immediately after Bentley (must have been so painful just missing out on Bentley). Then they figured Sugar was a mistake and gave her away.

I'm just hoping Reeve is over any obsession with Bentley. *insert prayer hands emoticon*

I have Jasmine Thomas as this coming weeks eastern conference player of the week.

29 points and 6 assists in a win at home against Seattle.
22 points in a win on the road against Indiana.

Has there ever been 3 different players win POW on the same team before 3 weeks in a row?

This has nothing to do with the Sun team itself, but rather, their cheerleading squad! Cool

A couple of weeks ago, while watching on my DVR the Seattle Storm @ CT Sun game on ESPN2, I had noticed something missing during the telecast: the Sun's Solar Power Dance Team!

In previous games --- and I think it has been a couple of years since the Sun last hosted a nationally-televised game before then --- I would see the Solar Power dancers with their pom-poms standing by the large exit, behind the visiting team's bench. If the Sun scored, they would jump and wave their pom-poms.

But in last week's Storm/Sun game, I didn't see them at all. So, are they still around this season? Or did they change their uniforms or routines?

The Solar Power dancers are listed on the team website, albeit with limited information:

They were at the May 3rd, 2017 pre-season game. But there are a couple of guys on the squad now. Maybe they dropped the pom-poms because of that.
