So wnba.com has the Sun 9th in the standings and espn has them 8th. Who is right? And why are they different?

WNBA.com usually factors in tiebreakers. With ESPN, who knows? Who has won the head-to-heads between ATL and CON?

They have split. Atlanta won 81-74 on May 13th, while Connecticut won 104-71 on June 10th. Their last matchup is on August 15th.

Okay, here's the tiebreaker criteria. If it's that important, you figure it out. That 2nd criteria isn't useful until the end of the year.
(1) Better record in head-to-head games.
(2) Better winning percentage against all teams with .500 or better record at the end of the season.
(3) Better point differential in games net result of total points scored less total points allowed head-to-head.
(4) Better point differential net result of total points scored less total points allowed against all opponents.

With Indiana being 6-6, or .500 one of the sites maybe included them as well and used a 3 way tiebreaker which could change the outcome. (I haven't looked at the overall records to see if that makes a difference.
