Noticed the league made this available on ESPN3. Taurasi should break the scoring record in this game.

Stop Brittney! Stop Dirty Diana!!! Twisted Evil

This would be a good game to get some nice overall team scoring, especially from downtown. Will Sydney see some serious minutes today, or will Brian continue experimenting with Riquna? Let's see if our bigs can drive Brittney crazy and put her in foul trouble again.

Riquna = NO

She's getting to Matee Ajavon territory - some team will keep her on the roster for her athleticism and willingness to shoot without much hope the ball will go in.

Are a lot of teams looking for a player that will shoot without much hope the ball will go in?

Riquna is returning from ACL surgery so there is some rust to deal with, and I suspect Brian is deliberately being patient with her because of that. I think Brian feels she might eventually flourish within a strong team structure with effective bigs who will allow her to get plenty of open looks. However, she has to play within Brian's team concept, or she will ride the pine.

She could just as well work out her rust during practices. Hitting open shots has very little to do with rust. It's not like she has been an essential part of the team up until now. I could see that tactic if she were an irreplaceable major cog on the team. Although it is now expected with most surgeries, there is no 100% guarantee that any athletic player will ever come back as good as before.

Besides that she is streaky and unless she is hot she will more than likely continue to shoot bricks. It would make more sense if they gave Wiesner the playing time to develop. She could shoot bricks just as well as Williams.

Of course now that we have drug her over the coals she will probably get hot and make us all look bad. Embarassed

You said it! Laughing Brian has his reasons why he is trying to integrate Riquna.

Many of you seem to have issues with players you consider 'chuckers.' However, Riquna's situation with the Wings is very similar to Odyssey's. It is also very similar to Sugar Rodgers coming out of college. Here you had players who pretty much had to shoot for their teams because there was not a lot of help scoring-wise. Sugar had to carry her college team. Odyssey assumed the scoring load after Brittney graduated and tried to carry the Wings when Skylar went down to injury. Riquna was a scoring option for four years with the Tulsa Shock.

You move these players into situations where they have strong post play where they could get plenty of open looks and what happens? Sugar went from riding the pine in Minny and most of her first two years in New York to emerging as a quality player and a dangerous downtown scorer. Why should we not expect Odyssey and Riquna's games to translate similarly in LA? If they insist in playing hero ball, they will have to deal with Candace, Nneka, Alana, and Chelsea before Brian lights into them.

Brian is trying to build chemistry on both sides of the ball with his current team. Sydney should get opportunities as well since she is a quick release artist who is deadly accurate already from beyond the arc. For whatever reason, Brian appears to be focusing on getting the veterans Odyssey and Riquna games flowing over the rookie Sydney at the moment.

Great assessment, Jap! The thing is the LA will need these two down the stretch, so he's trying to get them integrated and confident.

Taurasi just got away with elbowing Ogwuimke in the back of the head. Unseen by the officials. Announcers say something about her frustration. It's gonna get ugly out there as Taurasi ages and gets increasingly frustrated.

DT should of been tossed for that elbow on Nneka. The refs review everything but this obvious elbow to the head not Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

A play like that should be subject to a protest review. The opposing team makes a protest and the refs have to review it on a timeout. Maybe the league will review it tomorrow.

Taurasi is downright scary when she is frustrated. She can get violent in a hurry.

The refs should be fired and she should draw another suspension for that.

What will we have more of in the 1st Quarter: DT elbowing people or Mercury points? Laughing

Nneka is such a drama queen though, the part of her head she was holding wasn't even where Taurasi tapped. It was back and her scrunchie or bun, whatever you want to call it.

They're fouling the shit out of her, and she's getting frustrated. Typical DT.

Prediction: Taurasi isn't going to get the record tonight.
