To the fan in the seats (no inside knowledge of team dynamics etc) this wasn't unexpected (and was announced several months ago). KG came in with great expectations and for whatever reason never got extended playing time to show what she could do. Frese is on solid ground and very well respected around MD. |
+1
I might add that Jenna Staiti also left because it was pretty clear she wasn't going to get much playing time.

Rumor is that Erin Boley is going to Stanford.
Doesn't seem like a fair trade to me!!!!

That might be a first? For Stanford to take a transfer in wbball? Not sure, but I can't remember it happening before.

Yep. Here's a local article on Spann to SCar : http://www.centredaily.com/sports/college/womens-basketball/article153254289.html
Very good academics from her, doing the grad school thing. Be interesting to see how she does with the #1 post presence loosening space up for her.

Boley is going to Oregon.
I wonder how that connection came about.

Does Boley want to/intend to play on the wing?
You gotta assume barring injury Hebard is going to be start in the post. The other freshman McGwire started 24 games. They also have another freshman Campisano who was highly rated (#14 on ESPN, but didn't play as much). Oti Gildon (Sophomore last year, would be a senior when Boley becomes eligible) would likely be a rotational big (backup PF?) as a senior. Then, they brought in a highly rated international 6'4 wing/forward this year who was invited to the Jordan Brand game (C/O 2017), and her sister, a 2018 post has committed as well.
Of course, Boley may be better than them, but I forsee a transfer or two.

And McCray-Penson at ODU loses another one as Ibe Ajemba, who sat out last year, transfers to UNC-Greensboro, where former ODU assistant Trina Patterson is now HC. Nikki is going to have to scramble to assemble a team by November.

All the best of luck to her! The OVC won't know what hit them.

University of Wisconsin coach Jonathan Tsipis has announced that guards Ashley Kelsick and Gabby Gregory have left the program. Both, however, plan to remain in school at UW-Madison. Kelsick was a transfer from Boston College and a redshirt junior. Gregory is from Racine, WI, and had completed one year of eligibility.

6'2 F Savannah Felgemacher from Church Hill, TN, has transferred from JMU to Radford. She will have 2 years of eligibility remaining after her mandatory year out.
We are not amused.

Rumor has it , Texas may be short a former McD AA on their roster this coming season. Further speculation I have seen is that one of the incoming class may not make it to Austin.
Just something to keep an eye on.

More specifically, Rellah Boothe is heading to a JUCO instead of Austin. But not yet confirmed.

That's what I thought. I'm not only not amused, Im outright appalled. There are so many places she could have gone--if she wanted to stay in VA, I bet Nikki McCray-Penson would be delighted to have her. Or if she wanted to go home to Tennessee and stay DI, maybe Austin Peay (I think ETSU is full up). There are a boatload of DIIs near whered she's from--Carson-Newman and Tusculum in particular would grab her in a heartbeat, and LMU probably wouldn't sneer at her either. But going to Radford bespeaks a particular lack of self confidence, Savannah is a good player and was coming along *really* nicely, but she seems to have looked at the new kids on the block and got stage fright.
