Well damn, $300K for next year with an annual raise of $10K every year after that plus another $20K annually for marketing along with lots of incentives. That's a pretty damn good contract for a mid-major.

Once upon a time Physical Education Instructors like James Naismith got no extra pay for coaching sports teams. Pretty amazing how much they get these days.

It's about time. She looked VERY burned out when they played JMU up here. The team was extremely disorganized and even at that late in the season kept looking at her for instructions all the time. In February they should only have to do that occasionally.

More out on Martin's departure from Delaware, including NCAA violations and forcing the players to have counseling sessions with her wife. Between this, the former softball coach, and the former volleyball coaches, what a mess UD women's sports were. http://www.delawareonline.com/story/sports/college/ud/2017/05/16/tresolini-delaware-ad-answered-players-wants-needs-new-coach/323536001/

It always seems to me that when a coach has NCAA violations, it ought to make them ineligible to be hired anywhere for a period, either as HC or assistant. Yet here is Martin, trotting off to UNCW as if nothing ever happened.....

I thought Sides was joined at the hip with Pokey Chatman, since they were together for so many years at LSU, in Russia and at the WNBA Sky. Did something happen between the two?

Old Dominion to hire Nikki McCray

McCray-Penson’s collection of basketball hardware includes, in addition to a college national championship ring, two Olympic gold medals and a most valuable player trophy from the American Basketball League.

McCray was never a national champion as a player in college. Tennessee won the year before she arrived, then won three straight after she left, but came up short in each of her four seasons on Rocky Top.

Yay Nikki! She is the real deal. Pat would be so proud!

Do coaches not get a ring in college ? I know they don't in the Olympics , but I'm not sure about college .

Maybe the article was referring to her national championship as an assistant with South Carolina? But I am not aware if the coaching staff gets championship rings. And if so, I'm surprised they would hand them out this early, only a month after the championship game.

On ODUsports website, Dr. Selig said that more than 100 applied for head coach position at ODU. I find it hard to believe. Do you believe what he said? I thought 50 or less is reasonable but more than 100? Wow.
