Johnson's come back down to earth, horrible game.

And don't tell me Griner can't average 20p/10r.Brondello needs to keep her foot in Brittneys ass.Griner should be the #1 option on this mercury basketball team.

Yes I got that as well. Sound was all the way up on my computer and I could hardly hear. Then it kept going up and down and at one point there was no sound. I figured it was AT&T messing with something again.

Ding Ding Ding

Double ding ding ding

She had 11 pts in 13 minutes on 5 of 7 shooting. So she might not be that bad. She certainly hasnt done worse then what Larkins has been doing in the first 2 games of the season Rolling Eyes

It was her knee injury vs Baylor... Not all players come back from it 100% So I'd give it another year before wondering that.. Confused

Early in the game during one of the first timeouts, the Mercury did a tribute to Candice Dupree. Candu was the first player introduced for Indiana and, of course, the fans cheered load. I thought the tribute was a class out by the Mercury and something you don't often see when a player is traded.

Two things from this game.

1.) The Mercury bench are as bad as I thought they'd be.
2.) The Fever will not be a good team this season.

Achonwa must have been reading these comments since she came back did pretty well.

Indy is my 2nd favorite team but it annoys the hell out of me that they already had a fairly old team and then they went and made it older by getting Can'tDu. They should have decided it was time to rebuild instead of trying to limp into the playoff one more year.

They weren't that good last year with Catchings. No reason to think they would be anything other than terrible without her.

There is a possibility that the entire 2018 lottery will consist of all Eastern Conference teams.

That may be the only way to get a #1 pick in the East

Or it could be that Chatman is just such a frickin brilliant coach. Rolling Eyes I mean, I'm in absolute awe of that smooth running offensive machine she has rolled out onto the court. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Coleman, Johnson, January: 82 minutes, 2-23 shooting, 2 rebounds, four assists (all by Johnson), four turnovers, 11 points.

Coleman was especially heinous, missing 10 shots, and amassing precisely zero rebounds and zero assists with a net rating of -74.8.

They might as well start Mitchell and see what they have, as this team is going nowhere -- and going even faster with Coleman on the court.

Meanwhile, Danielle Robinson looks like a great fit for Phoenix, and Leilani Mitchell had a good game, which is a hopeful sign. And sometimes the switch goes to "on" for Griner ...

Not sure who thought they'd be good or even decent. I sure didn't. Voting for the Mercury over the Fever was a no-brainer after finding out DT & PFT got married the day before their first game of the season.

Achonwa was the second highest scorer on the team and the only one who shot over 50% (5-7) and that was in only 13 minutes.

The team was 1-15 from the arc.

If I'm coaching against Indy, we're packing the paint and daring them to shoot from range.

Indiana just never came up with a decent answer on offense. They didn't hit a thing from outside, but just kept dribbling into the middle, going "Oh shit, Brittney's in here", then dribbling or passing back out. Shockingly, that wasn't particularly effective.

Their occasional, brief attempts to actually move Griner out of the paint (or at least vaguely out of the way) were pretty pathetic. Phoenix, with an engaged Griner for once, looked good, but Indy helped them with that.

Chatman has never made the WNBA playoffs without Delle Donne on her roster to drag the offense to the necessary level. It wouldn't be all that surprising to see that streak kept alive this season.

They wouldn't be a playoff team with Steph White or Lin Dunn either. They don't have the horses.

Tamika Catchings, even past her prime, was able to cover up for a lot. I think people might realize this year just how good Catchings was.

We've seen worse top-6s than January/SJohnson/Coleman/Dupree/Larkins with Mitchell off the bench dragged to the playoffs by good organisation, teamwork and coaching. They started to look moderately competent last year even in games where Catchings was virtually invisible. But yeah, they lost their star player and leader for nothing in return. That's generally pretty difficult to deal with.

No way San Antonio makes the playoffs. 2018 lottery teams should be: San Antonio, Connecticut, Atlanta & either Indiana or Chicago.

Let's face it. Their coaching got a lot worse in the off season.

I suspect they would be horrible, rudderless, and chaotic even if Catchings was still playing.
