If she's the type of player who needs a disciplinarian for a coach, she should have a better year just based on switching from Fred to Agler alone

This.

Already i see a change. Even Riquana looks more under control. I've seen her pass up shots that she normally would've chucked up. This team will be nice once at full strength. Oh and Jewell Loyd is making Myrtle look like a genius for mixing up my draft picks in our fantasy draft lol. I'll be sad to see AB retire because her defense just excites me. I love that woman. And Nneka hitting threes with ease. Oh this will be a great year for LA.

Well, with Brian if she doesn't behave, she sits.

Clark giving seattle absolutely nothing.

Wiese's release isn't as slow as I thought.

Seattle desperately needs a legit starting small forward.

UPDATE - Final Stats

Gray: 14/2/8, 2-3 from 3, 2 steals
Sims: 20/4/6, 9-15 60% from the field, 2 steals

Chelsea Gray/Odyssey Sims stats after 3 quarters:

Gray: 9/2/7 + 2 steals, 1-1 from 3
Sims: 16/2/4 + 2 steals, 7-13 from the field, 1-4 from 3

I repeat: having these two competing for playing time is a HUGE POSITIVE for the Sparks!

The fact that Chelsea's height allows them to play together, shifting Alana to SF or with Essence. Chelsea's height can give opposing shooting guards (not name Jewell Loyd) fits.

And now Weise comes in to hit two 3's!

Without 2/3 of the frontcourt, LA's backcourt is coming up BIG.

lol, Sims flops on nearly every dribble handoff. She's got that Catchings/Maya head whip down pat.

Crystal got the rainbow trey going. It will be crucial for one or more of the downtown shooters to come up big on crunch time moments now that the former 'Lil Mopey has taken her game to DC,

Referring to Chelsea Gray? Her beautiful 3's are one reason she and Odyssey can be on the floor together. They did great on the court together today!

Chealsea is a guard and a upcoming prime time PG at that. Still, she is big enough to move to SF if circumstances make that favorable. You have to love versatile players. Chelsea's treys are so reminiscent of Tina Thompson's moon ball arcs.

Post game rundown:

Starters:

PG: Chelsea Gray - GREAT game 8 assists/1 turnover + 2-3 from three
SG: Riquna Williams - not ready for prime time 0 pts/12 mins
SF: Alana Beard - excellent veteran game, effort and focus on defense EXTRAORDINARY. Needs to score more to stay on the court
PF: Nneka - missing her front court buddies, below average (for her) game, 20/3 on 50% shooting
C: Tiffany Jackson-Jones - WOW. 8/8 coming back from breast cancer is GREAT news for the Sparks, giving Sparks a 4th in the front court

Bench:
ODYSSEY SIMS!!! 20/4/6 on 60% shooting!!! KTO will be replaced by committee. Odyssey is a different player, not so deadly from 3 but better defense AND a broken play scorer
Sidney Wiese - did better bringing the ball downcourt than many thought she would AND 2-3 from 3! Great to have a 3rd PG for spot time and for the future who can hit some 3's.
Ify Ibekwe - also not ready for prime time

Not Playing:
CP3 - expecting another great year
Lavender - the third member of a great front court rotation
Carson - she's got some strong competition for playing time and might not start with Sims starting the season so strong (Gray/Sims/Beard). Might share SF minutes with Beard, bringing the D

When the 3 DNP's are back, this team looks ready to defend the crown!

Jewell looking really good early on.

safe to say...sims will be a starter going forward.
even brian had to fuss at williams for not getting in the huddle during a timeout ... he'll remember that for sure.

The Sparks at full strength will be scary. Sims starting with Gray, Williams, Lavender & Jackson-Jones off the bench.

Looked like Agler got upset at Williams during a timeout. I think it was for her not joining the team huddle.

yeah, my ears perked up when i heard this... #burn

however, if Sims had "disciplinary" issues in Dallas she will learn that she is playing for a coach that pulled a future hall-of-famer, with a sometimes prickly in-game disposition during a playoff game.

The only player I would judge after this game is Alana. Her defensive presence, as always, made much more impact, than box score can show. As for others... You can do any miracle stats vs worst team in the league (and storm is such without Bird and Brianna), but this is costs nothing. Who was Sims and Gray opponent? Or isn't duo Toka-Langhorn worst defensive tandem of bigs in this league?
