Because what this team clearly needed was the white Shekinna Stricklen.

Well, I suppose she has one advantage over Stricklen.

She didn't go to Tennessee. Wink

David wrote a nice preview here: http://www.shatteredbackboard.com/2017/05/10/connecticut-sun-2017-season-preview-growth-patience-connecticut-way/

Also apparently Pederson has a broken thumb, hence the reason she was waived.

like to see Alisa as post - Tuck will obviously play on perimeter to give this team spacing and Thomas will work her way to the basket in low-post. Will be interesting to see, how opponents with slow PF will react on this.

Oh, goodie, I detect another DS -- to wit, FDS:

Faris Derangement Syndrome.

Never forget: Geno Auriemma famously said in her freshman year that Kelly Faris "would never play a bad game." (You can even Google it.)

Did he err?

Yes, Faris is professional, unlike her arrogant coach who would publicly refer to WNBA enthusiasts (the people who keep up the interest of the WNBA and keep him employed) as people who live in basements.

Miller should recognize a "cellar dweller" when he sees one. Sun have been near the bottom of the standings and out of the playoffs for the past 4 seasons.

What happened to Elonu? Don't see an official waiving. Don't see her on the official roster either.

interesting they would keep Hooper over Faris with just a day or two in camp for Hooper. Guess that means offense over defense. Anyway, gl to Faris. Though most of us don't really 'get' why/how she has stuck so long, she did manage to do it so I assume she was a really positive influence in the 'clubhouse'. Good luck to her, and to January, who I assume will be playing overseas.

From 6/2016:
Quote:
Former UConn defensive star, 5-11 guard Kelly Faris, in her third year with the team, played so hard she brought Miller to tears.

Faris had two steals and played hard-nosed defense for 21 minutes Sunday; Friday in the Sun’s loss to Atlanta she had two steals and was 2 for 2 from the line in 13 minutes.

Among the last players to make the team, a choked up Miller said Faris’ last two games are the reasons “I kept her. She’s not the most talented but she plays hard … and she cares. I just love to coach kids who are going to overachieve and she’s a kid who has exceeded expectations,” he added. Faris also pays attention to scouting reports which Miller felt some veteran players did not respond to as well.

Well, I hope shorty is floating on a pool of his own salty tears now.
