Here are the rules as we have known them. They've been modified over the years somewhat so please do read through:

Rules
1)
Each fantasy player will have a max 9 W players: Rosters will consist of:

2 Guards
2 Forwards
1 Center
1 Utility (open to any position)
2 Bench (also any position)
1 IR
To be eligible for the IR a slot, a player must miss at least one game. None of this day-to-day-but-it-always-seems-like-I'm-OK-on-gameday stuff. It doesn’t matter why they miss the game. If they miss a game, they are then eligible for the IR. When you activate that player from the IR, you will then need to waive someone/anyone from your roster so that at any time you have only 8 active players.

We use the position designations from WNBA site. However, we permit some wriggle room. For instance if a player is listed as an F, but CLEARLY plays the 5 position, an argument can be made that she is actually the C on that team. Just don’t try to stretch positions too much. If you use a position not listed on the W site, you must make a clear and concise statement on the thread about why you are doing so – no sneaking it in. If objections are made by the other players, we will vote on it. And no, Candace Parker cannot play all five positions regardless of what Mary Murphy says!

2) Lineup procedure
Lineups must be posted before the first game of the day. Multiple days may be posted at once and any changes to an already submitted lineup may be made up until the start of the games in a given day.
Six players can be active on any particular day.
The starting lineup each day is:
G
G
F
F
C
UT

3) the Draft

We used to figure out a time when everyone could ‘get together’ and do the draft but the last few times we’ve done a rolling draft over several days. Anybody have a strong preference? We use snake format so if there are 8 fantasy players, she/he who goes first would have pick #1 and #16; the next player would have #2 &#15, etc… Here is the 2015 draft as an example http://boards.rebkell.net/viewtopic.php?t=84506

4) Stat Keeping: Does anybody want to volunteer? The stat categories we did before were FG%, 3-PT makes, 3-PT %, FT%, REB, AST, ST, TO, BLK, PTS. We can add or remove categories as needed, as long as we have a majority that want it. Here are the stats from the NCAA game in case you need a refresher on how it works https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1d9KGJ4z4CeS3KLool0d8pofIfdVSKlVJBrc4T2cxWaQ/edit?usp=sharing Cardinal set this up. I will try to copy/modify it to make it work for us but if anyone else is an expert in google docs, I would be grateful for assistance. We copied stats from http://hosted.stats.com/wnba/scoreboard.asp so the worksheets are set up to work from that site.

5)Transaction limits
Three transactions in a one week period, starting and ending at midnight Eastern time Saturday night

6) Abandoned teams
If a team has zero roster moves (roster move being defined as posting a lineup, free agent pickup or trade) in any 10 day period, the team will be considered abandoned. Once a team has been declared abandoned (via forum post), the owner will have 48 hours to express their interest in remaining in the league. An abandoned team will be opened up 1st for an outside owner who is interested in joining post-draft. If an outside owner cannot be found, the team will be broken up in a dispersal draft.

7) Any suspicious or unsportsmanlike conduct (including, but not limited to collusion, dumping and tanking) will be dealt with on a case by case basis, by league vote.

Cool By democratic vote, we can add, remove or modify rules as needed in order to make the league as much fun for everyone as possible. Any in-season change will be put to a vote.

I'm open to playing the old school fantasy game, but I know it is a lot of work for whoever runs it.

I'm in!

I agree with the rolling draft that's been done the last few times, but I think we should also try to set a time when everyone thinks they can get together and knock out a bunch at once.

Thanks, myrtle!

So I've posted the rules in the first post of the thread for anyone interested.

While I'm willing to do the stats for the most part, I will be on a (business/vacation) trip for 10 days in June and will definitely need some help in that timeframe.

If we do a rolling draft, I think we start next Saturday or Sunday May 6 or 7? That gives us plenty of time. Thoughts? And I agree with Newkid - if we can come up with a time to do 3 or 4 rounds all at once that would be a great start.

I'm down. Saturday's work best for me so if that's when the draft is let me know.

Maybe we could start the rolling a little earlier? Sunday 7-10 EST is best for me for a big in person draft.

Summary: At this point it looks like ten players (assuming Snimiaj doesn't want to play this version game):
tbinta
hangtyme
j-spoon
lynxmania
Admiral?
newkid
mysticsfan
adamj
myrtle
queenie (honorary member until/if she withdraws)

I think that's all the fantasizers we can accommodate unless we want shorter rosters. For ten fantisizers that means we take 90 players, so we'll be going 8 players deep on rosters - that's pretty far down but we'll all be in the same boat so it could be interesting - whose scrub will play the best? We don't want to have total bottom of the roster players who hardly get off the bench on our 'teams'. It also means there aren't many players left to pick up if you have an injury!

so...question #1: would you like to go with 8 player rosters instead?

question #2: timing for the first few rounds of the draft. Here's four options:
May 6: 11 am - 1 pm EDT
May 6: 8 pm - 10 pm EDT
May 7: 11 am - 1 pm EDT
May 7: 8 pm - 10 pm EDT

two hours at three minutes per pick should give us enough time to get at least 4 rounds in - more if we are quick. After that we can go to the rolling draft to complete our rosters.

Note that If the majority pick a time that you are unable to attend, you can get someone to do a proxy draft for you - either another fantasizer or a third party lurker - by giving them your list in order of who you would like to draft. If you neither appear at draft time nor arrange for a proxy, we will assume you do not want to play.

We will need a lurker to draw names out of a hat to determine draft order.

Also if someone else wants to play, they should show up at draft time in case someone doesn't show up.

8 player roster (that leaves a little wiggle room for waiving and adding which makes the game more fun)

Sunday May 7th 8-10pm is best for me.

I can do any draft time EXCEPT Sun 11-1.

The 9th roster spot is IR. Are you all planning to draft 9 and immediately put one on IR? 'Cause I'm not that devious/smart. I was thinking I would just draft 8. Anyway, I can go with 9 or 8 player rosters.

ok Pilight drew for us and here is our order:

1)myrtle
2)j-spoon
3)newkid
4)lynxmania
5)Admiral?
6)mysticsfan
7)adamj
8)tbinta
9)hangtyme
10)tenth player if someone else wants to join

11)tenth player if someone else wants to join
12)hangtyme
13)tbinta
14)adamj
15)mysticsfan
16)Admiral
17)lynxmania
18)newkid
19)j-spoon
20)myrtle

eee, not sure what to do with that. I'll get a good one at #1 but it sure as heck is a long way down to #20. I haven't even begun to start anal-yzing.

newkid is of course right that we are picking 8 so that helps with the depth of our lineups. My mind was going a bit beserk thinking about taking 90 players. 80 sounds a bit better...and that also depends on if Queenie or someone else wants to be #10.

My inclinations are to start rolling on Thursday, May 4, (giving us a chance to see a few more rookies) then we'll sit down and do a bunch in whatever 2 hour period we choose over the weekend, then if needed finish it by rolling on for a few days next week... if everybody's ok with that. Still need more opinions on the best time slot over the weekend.

also if everyone could please change your settings so that when you receive a PM you also get an email. Then when you make a pick, send a PM to the next person drafting behind you. That will speed up the process and make it so everyone isn't continually having to refresh to see if it's their turn yet. If anyone needs help/has questions on that, let me know.

I'm with you Myrtle on draft position, the year I did the best I had pick #6 or 7 the year I did the worst I had pick #1.

This year I think there is a top 5 a 2nd group of 5 and then who knows? After the first two rounds it is anybodies guess.

I prefer the evening times. 8am Pacific on an off day would be kind of hard for me. Lol. I can leave a list of players with someone if that's all that works but I'd rather participate.
