Just a thought about Trakh and recruiting. He was an outstanding recruiter and he might now own the Southland. UCLA has now cast their nets further out, especially Texas and has had fewer local players. I believe their heralded 2017 class has not one player from Southern California.

Southern California's top two recruits were in state kids I believe, one from LA, one from San Diego. That could be the first test of the 2nd Trakh era at USC, if he can keep those kids around, assuming he wants them.

I see a rumor about Chris Lewis and UMKC, but no confirmation as yet.

Edit - in fact a new name in the mix - Lane Lord

It's about time. She looked VERY burned out when they played JMU up here. The team was extremely disorganized and even at that late in the season kept looking at her for instructions all the time. In February they should only have to do that occasionally.

Re Tina Martin, "retired" HC of U of Delaware, they call it retired, but she was axed. The News Journal (Kevin Tressolini) says she is very upbeat and will look for another HC job. The article quotes 2 of her best players as being shocked. http://www.delawareonline.com/story/sports/college/ud/2017/04/28/tina-martin-retiring-blue-hens-womens-hoops-coach/101017094/

I'm sorry, but the Blue Hens were AWFUL whenever I saw them, other than in the Delle Donne years. And in those years, it realy looked like Elena was doing the coaching and not Martin. I know this is the mids, but the woman couldn't recruit and IMO wasn't a very good coach. She might be well advised to seek a position in D-II or at an NAIA school where her "personal" approach could play well.

Offer EDD the job. She doesn't play overseas during the college season. Staley did it at Temple while playing in the WNBA.

Not sure EDD would take it, though. She doesn't seem to have high energy career drive.

I BELIEVE the NCAA closed that loophole grandfathering Rizzo and Staley until they retired...and C. Cooper DID get slapped for recruiting violations at PVAMU regarding her ties to the Comets...Don't think Playing and HEAD coaching can be done because of the recruiting commitment...we KNOW players can and are ASSISTANTS in the offseason but I don't believe they go out and recruit. I'll have to check my rulebook

Oy vey! She was doing pretty well at ODU, why would she want to leave there for a sink like UNCW? That's the basement of the CAA, for catsake. Rolling Eyes They must have offered her some kind of real sweetener for her to take that. Yuck.
