What struck me more was, look at Plum's height compared to Coffey. What do you figure, about 5'5"?

Maybe Coffey is taller than she's listed? Maybe Coffey wore higher heels? No way Plum sets scoring record at 5'5.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that picture was taken draft night and Plum was wearing higher heels. Plus the same conclusion is reached in comparison to other players.

And is there some rule book somewhere of which I'm unaware that sets a minimum height for scoring record holders? Or did you just arbitrarily pick 5'6" as the minimum qualifier?

There are any number of reasons you could say "no way" Kelsey Plum sets the scoring record. Except that she did.

Coffey is 6-1. For Plum to be 5-5, Coffey would need to be 8 inches taller. The average human head is 9.4 inches. Nia looks about 2/3 of a head taller or roughly 6 inches. That would make Plum 5-7. Obviously, we can argue about posture, camera angle, height of heels, etc.

So ArtBest23 and root_thing - who is to say that Coffey is really 6-1? Or that any WNBA player is really as tall as listed on their roster?

Ok, let's just all pretend she's 6'3".

Everybody happy now?

Proceed.

I wonder if she'll be the new Tina and wear lipstick while playing.

sigur3, I'd need you to stand next to Ms. Coffey to know for sure. She is now the WNBA standard unit of measure. Plum, it appears is equal to .93 on the Coffey scale.

I'm surprised no one has questioned whether Coffey or Plum have average sized heads.

If she's 6'3, that would be a good selling point to the scouts. Maybe she's just one of those rare players who is honest about her height.

Probably none are listed accurately except for the really tall ones (Boyette, Griner) where they may even round down instead of up to eliminate some of the "freak" factor. I think they also tend to be more exaggerated when a player is short for their position.

Can you get a selfie taken with Kelsey Plum?

I am hoping we get a shot of Hammon and Plum standing next to each other.

Yep. I remember the Chicago announcers were talking last year (I think based on a Pokie statement) about the possibility of Faulkner and Vandersloot playing together in the backcourt. I think it happened a little bit too.

She looks like she's a little over 1.0 on the Vandesloot scale.

Sloot's 5'8" according to both Sky and Team USA rosters, by the way. And 173cm according to European listings, which is also essentially 5'8".

Oh I see. So then...wouldn't she be good to go with the team? She has her weaknesses certainly. But she also has raw offensive skill that might blend well with the firepower on the perimeter. I like what Dos Santos did two years ago as an overachiever. But maybe with a legit team around her Hamby will take another step forward.

Yeah, if her social media is any indication she's been working hard to get back into game shape

So does that make her a Tall, a Grande, or a Venti?
