Wynn already has one assistant coach in her husband. Neighbors took one of his assistant coaches with him. The remaining two UW assistants are UConn ties so I wouldn't expect them to be retained or go to Arkansas.

If Valley wants to stay, I hope she is able to.
At LBSU, Wynn had a UW grad and Seattle native on staff (Michelle Augustavo), so I wonder if Wynn will also bring Augustavo with her.

That's a step down for him. Also a questionable hire for Eastern Illinois, IMNSHO. YMMV and probably does, but my opinion of him, both as a person and a coach, is currently below basement level.

Smesko says no to USC offer. This has been a PR disaster. We talked to him/her. No they didn't. We offered her. She declined. We now talked to him. We offered him. He declined. Very public and it makes it look like the school is desperate and leaderless, which they may be.
The one thing is that perhaps the Pac is starting to push back against these bloated salaries in the wbb. 400k that was reportedly offered is much more than Smesko's salary at FGCU, but living in LA is also more. I think USC should have also told him to keep his comments to a minimum because it makes them look bad, bad, bad.
Is Beth Burns now the only coach mentioned as a contender who is still out there?

Nice article. At least USC has an eye for top talent!
I love Karl, and he's "letting the game come to him", in bb parlance. He's fine as is, and will move when all the stars align. He's still young.

Amazing ... what is wrong at USC? Why are people turning down what could be a very good job?

And now there's also the vacancy at LBSU. Of course, a rumored name is Mark Trakh. USC should simply go to him, admit they made a big mistake when they fired him and offer him the job. Right now, USC needs a coach who can stabilize the program and also coach the players they have. As such, they need someone with his experience and also his talent for being a player's coach. Because of the late date and very public process, the chances of getting a better candidate than Trakh look slim to none. And let's face it, he wants to come back and he'd do a hell of a job for them.
Overall, I'm shocked at how naive USC was when it came to social media. True or not, every step and miss-step was covered in glorious detail. To the outsider, they looked like idiots who are incapable of controlling their own destiny. For sure, they could not control their own PR. In a place like LA, that is the biggest surprise. They are their own worst enemies and now they're on the clock. The hire will be someone they have to take rather than someone they really need. It's likely even top candidates who might have been interested have to be scared off by the ineptness of the process.
Let' say it. Beth Burns will get it. What a disappointment.

"has Tina Thompson ever been considered by USC?"
Since they saw how brilliantly Cynthia Cooper did, probably not.

The Pac-12 is not the place for a coaching newbie -- and there is no evidence that Tina will be a capable Power 5 coach.
There were rumors that Kate Paye at Stanford would take the job, but it's possible that Amy Tucker's retirement restructured the Stanford staff to keep Paye on The Farm.
Of course, USC has never cared much about women's basketball, and its predilection for hiring former football stars as ADs has caught up with the one-time all-sport power. Glitzy hires are great (the Coopers) but qualified professionals are even better.

It’s simple: women’s basketball is not a priority for USC, which is disappointing, as the university has a rich, and very powerful legacy, steep in unbelievable past glory.
Which has perplexed many who have spoken seriously with the Trojans. Some of the candidates that were a part of the initial interview process, felt lowballed by the compensation package: $350,000, according to sources. |

That "writer" has been at the forefront of USC gossip since the start. Let's not forget it was he and his "sources" who claimed Curt Miller was a candidate only to have Miller say he was never approached. Then he said Smesko was a leader in the search only to have him say that USC made an inquiry but it never went further. How can anyone could put forth Beth Burns' name without noting her history with SDSU and also her negative history with the program with Cynthia Cooper. And then to top it off, he throws out the name of Cheryl Miller, something that even non SoCal fans should be laughing about. He says we should watch out for Dan Burt from Duquesne. I say listen for Burt's disavowal on Twitter. Then again, after seeing his record, this sounds like more fun at South Central.

Beth Burns also have use issue at Ohio State. the only difference is that SDS fired her while Ohio State did not renew her contract.

Ray Caldwell has left Texas Tech as assistant coach and surprise, his daughter Desiree, 2018, who verballed has reopened her recruiting. His other daughter, Recee transferred from UCLA to TT, ostensibly to be with him. Now here's where it gets weird. Japrece Dean just transferred from TT to UCLA and on twitter it sounds like Ray and Dean's father are good friends. It just sounds like a weird place for her to end up since Ray did not say good things about UCLA when Recee left.
TT also just lost Arella Guirantes to transfer so something is going on at TT.
Caldwell is very strong in the AAU sector so if USC hires him as assistant coach, you'd likely get Desiree as well, strong Texas connections and possibly a great deal of headache.

Guirantes is from NY and I don't think that has anything to do with the other business. She wanted to be nearer home, apparently.

Welcome back to The Farm, Lindy! Good luck next season.
That said, I can't help but to think she interviewed for the job a while ago. Which means Amy Tucker made the decision to leave the coaching staff during the season, though she didn't want to mention it until after season's end.

Based on message I received and some twitter observations ... Florida seems to be hiring:
ACs
Kelly Rae Finley (Arizona AC)
John McCray (UT Chattanooga AC)
Laura Harper (GW AC)
Video
Scott Schmelzer (Belmont GA)
