Busy sports night, but I was keeping an eye on it. If you've never seen women's hockey, you need to take a look.

So many Gophers on this team (current and former). Love watching them play.

Jocelyne Lamoureux with a bullet from the left circle off a feed from Kessel. 3-0 USA.

The announcers are incorrect in their rule interpretation, unless the IIHF has a different rule about kicked pucks from everyone else. If a player kicks the puck into a defender and it deflects into the net it is rightfully a no goal. The only exception is if the kicked puck deflects off the defender's stick.

The floodgates are starting to open. USA catches Russia on a change and Jocelyne Lamoureux buries a pass from Coyne for her 2nd goal of the game. 4-0 USA.

Heh. They are still discussing the called off goal. Though they did point out the other exception that I forgot about earlier. If the defender intentionally kicked at the puck (to try and clear it) and it deflected in that attempt, then it can be allowed.

But, seriously, the only way the rule would make sense is to not allow deflected pucks as well. Otherwise players would just try and bank it in off the goalie with their kick.

A 4 on 2 Team USA line rush ends with a beautiful back and forth between Decker and Knight, and Decker puts it in the back of the net. 5-0.

2 on 0 rush ends with Knight feeding Coyne for the goal. 6-0.

13 seconds later, Decker scores her second of the night. 7-0.

And that will do it. Shutout for Maddy Rooney.

The Coyne/Decker/Knight line scored 4 goals. Kendall Coyne is the Player of the Game.

USA vs. Canada for all the marbles on now. NHL Network. Borrowing from Pittsburgh Penguins' future Hall-of-Fame announcer Mike Lange - "Warm up the Cordoba baby, we're going bowling!"

Meghan Agosta scores on a blistering wrist shot off a great pass on a 2-on-1 for team Canada.

Now Canada is going on the power play.

Still tied 1-1 at the end of the 1st period.

USA looked great on two penalty kills. Canada's defense keeping them in this one.

USA went on the power play with 2:20 to play. Canada played some impressive desperation defense.

For the fourth time in the eight times these teams have met for the gold, it's going to overtime.

My all-time favorite goalie won tournament's top goalie, Noora Räty. It was such a privilege to watch her play in person for her four years (and two natty champs) as a Gopher, including their perfect season.

Great game for team USA, avenging their Sochi heartbreaker. Can't wait for Korea.
