Given the rumors about why he left Indiana, this is a surprise to me.

All in all, in fact, I think Washington is a better job than Arkansas, though it may take some time to get UW back in high gear. (Arkansas, I don't think, has ever been in high gear ...) |
Arkansas and Washington have both been to the Final Four once (1998 Arkansas, 2016 Washington).

You mean it wasn't for "health reasons"? |

I think the Neighbors move is a done deal ... but that means a very good job is open at Washington. The cupboard may be bare this coming year, but Seattle is a very attractive city to live in, the facilities are good, the administration appears committed enough to women's basketball, there's plenty of talent on the West Coast and the Pac-12 is a good league.

Is there enough talent for three pacific northwest teams to be good? I just feel like with Plum and Osahor leaving, and with Oregon and Oregon State's success, it will be a hard rebuild for Washington. The Pac 12 strength to me is not a selling point because it makes it harder to rise to the middle of the pack. The SEC on the other hand seems more top heavy but there are a lot more potential wins for a coach early in their career.

UW is in Seattle, one of the best/if not best big city markets for women's sports. Not to mention a first rate education to offer.
Seattle vs Eugene & Corvallis is not a contest from what a city has to offer standpoint.
Oregon St has remained very, very good and the Ducks look to be strong for the next 3 years but the culture at UW right now will not allow any program to be an afterthought.

I think UW can recruit from the entire West Coast, and even Utah, Colorado and Arizona because of the Pac-12 network and the potential home games.
UW has a good academic reputation, is located in a beautiful city and has shown a commitment to athletic success. I think it has advantages over many teams in the conference, and in the long run, could be a very good women's basketball program. In the short run, granted, it's not going to be pretty but the wheel can turn pretty quickly ...

I was going to say, I could have sworn I saw Arkansas in Kansas City in my first Final Four!

Kristin Gillespie is the new Illinos State head coach. I had the link but lost it.

I wonder if the academic programs offered at Lafayette might be a challenge for recruiting. Business, Education, Physical Therapy and Nursing are some of the hottest majors right now and from what I saw a few of those aren't offered.
Thoughts?

Why did he quit Dayton? I was thinking it was said to be health reasons but I'm not sure.
