That's great...it will be good to see the old guy back. How do the Mystic's fans feel, though?

There goes Cathy Joens's chance of making the Mystics roster...although it would be a smart marketing move to keep her.

Why? Joens went to GW, but it isn't as if the Mystics are starving for attendance. And it isn't as if Joens is going to replace Alana Beard in the marketing materials...

THIS mystics fan is Very Happy but quite a few on *the other board* are expressing less than positive emotions. Of course, VeProf hasn't weighed in yet, and we all know that HE represents all mystics fans (in his dreams, maybe). Wink

I agree, I'm not sure I understand this Cathy Joens obsession on this board. I saw her play several times, and when there is good D on her, she flounders.

Agreed. Joens was a nice college player, but I don't see her as an impact W player.

I think the statement referred more to like 'she'll likely get cut since Richie already cut her once', but that's just me!

Thank goodness we don't have another unqualified ex-NBA player.

An intense super knowledgable game coach of the old school is the best thing that ever happened to that team if you ask me.

right, jammer. for years he's did a lot with NY, even without the most talent. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with the *New Mystics*

I wonder if Richie will let Alana play PG this year... Or maybe move to the LSU style of playing her at SF with Temeka Johnson at the point as originally expected. Confused

oooooooh, i forgot about his penchant for excitability. mr. tomato head!

this really does call into question whether he's as sold on temeka as hargrove apparently was.

Because I do think it would be good marketing material to have a "local" girl around, but I also think she won't make the team because Adubato already cut her once.

I also think she'd be a better fit for the Mystics than someone like Erika Taylor, because they don't really have a "3-point bomber," and Taylor definitely does not fit that description.

We will have to agree to disagree. The Mystics average over 10,000 per game. And Joens is not a big-name local. Currie is a much bigger name, if we are talking about DC locals. Again, it isn't like Joens would have taken Beard off the promotional materials.

I hope it works better than the last Lib coach to take over Washington.

The biggest plus is that the Mystics have still had more head coaches than The Comets have had starting PGs.

Nancy and Chamique didn't get along...Nancy lost that Battle. If Beard somehow doesn't get along with Richie, I have a feeling he will not last that long.

Let's see if we can link directly to images on dot com.

Yes, Dr. Bibb, he does bear a strong resemblence (like a half human/half tomato hybrid) to the Wisconsin Beefsteak Variety now that you mention it. Note that while the hands are human (well... close anyway) the head is pure tomato.

It's tragic, really.

(but tasty!)

Jammer, in that picture, Richie bears a strong resemblance to your avatar photo!
