First game of #AFLW is over for Erin Phillips, and Wings fans will be pleased to know that she survived it (although she copped plenty of hits along the way as you'd expect from her). She was one of the best on ground, kicking 3 of Adelaide's 7 goals in a big win Very Happy
I expect her to feature prominently in news stories and video clips after that performance.
Former New York Liberty guard Jess Bibby also played in this game.

The AFLW Grand Final was today. Not only did Erin's Adelaide Crows win, but Erin won the medal for "Best on Ground" in the game. She survived the match, now she'll just need to survive tonight's championship celebrations.

The symbolism in that photo is just too much to handle....

In other events from down under that are Dallas Wings-related yet not basketball-related:

Glory Johnson fails a drug test

KBL takımlarından Canik Belediye'nin Amerikalı oyuncusu Glory Johnson'da yasaklı madde belirlendi. MBK maçından sonra alınan numuneleri pozitif çıkan Johnson'a idari tedbir kararı verildi. Buna göre Johnson büyük olasılıkla sezonu kapatmış oldu.

According to the article (and the usual awkward translation these programs offer), Glory claims that she was using medication with a doctor's permission after giving birth, that her manager was aware of it, "and that she was using it due to ill health." So something for post-partum, maybe? Seems a long time after the birth to be taking something for physical symptoms.

Regardless, I can't say I'm surprised.

Here's the whole article translated by Google

Quote:
From KBL teams, Canik Municipality's American play Glory Johnson was banned. After the MBC match, Johnson, whose samples were positive, was ordered to take administrative measures. Accordingly, Johnson probably closed the season.

Johnson went 5 games in the Canik Municipality and won 22.2 points, 14.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 blocks.

Glory Johnson stated that he was using medication with a doctor's report after birth and that his manager in America was aware of it and that he was using it due to ill health.

Glory Johnson, who was married to Brittney Griner, gave birth to twins after these ties. The Griner & Johnson marriage ended in a fight, and for this reason the WNBA two playmakers had fined seven games.

Canik Municipality loses 11 points with 6 wins. Osmaniye Youth, Girne University and MBK have 5'er wins.

I'd be curious of the nature of this drug. If she's still taking pain meds 18 months after giving birth, maybe she's addicted?

Honestly it hasnt been that long ago maybe about a year or less than . Remember her twins were premi's so that could have taken a huge toll especially coming back to the court so fast.

I always said if its not any type of performance enhancing drug or illegal narcotic's, then who cares. But knowing Glory's whack job history, it's probably worse than what she's saying, being a huge liar and all, she really has no credibility.

Why does everyone assume dallas is willing to take there hand-me down players for our 3 1st round Draft picks ? Laughing Every thread has a trade proposal with some sub-par 6th man off the bench player for our picks ? Maybe #10 could be up for grabs but people should realize WE SEE THE SAME VALUE IN PICKS 3 & 4 AS YOU DO . Rolling Eyes

Much like the camps, Diggins was limited in her workouts a year ago by her knee. But before her fifth season, she is confident in what she will bring to the Wings in their second season in Dallas-Fort Worth.

"From a feeling standpoint, I feel like an athlete and I feel like Sky," Diggins said. "[I'm] looking like Skylar, I'll just say that."

And when she steps back onto the College Park Center court in Arlington, she might have a few new, young fans watching their favorite camp counselor.

I hope shes right , a healthy diggins is a game changer . Sucked watching her last year return to early and be a non-factor in the beginning . The LA game was a glimpse of the old Diggy . This year my expectations are high for her .

“What we want to accomplish is to find the players that can fulfill our need on the defensive end,” said Wings head coach Fred Williams. “The other thing is we’re looking at players…who are really pro ready, to come on in and really help us right away.”

Liz is a "basketball legend"? Well, maybe in Australia, I guess.

The marketing world has taken over. It's all part of language inflation -- hyperbole is the norm. Words like gigantic and enormous aren't sufficient, so people combine them into "ginormous".
