for giving the WCB world a lesson re: correct pronunciation of the tournament darlings from QUINNipiac.

My eyes tired from rolling them each time the (seemingly willfully) ignorant Jenn Hildreth & Steffi Sorensen uttered the name quinniPIac.

Go Q!

I knoooooooow. I was starting to twitch every time they messed it up.

I was also starting to doubt my own experiences to the point where my search history includes "how to pronounce Quinnipiac", "how to say Quinnipiac", and "phonetic spelling of Quinnipiac".

Although I live 2 miles away, I could hear the rumbling. The Sleeping Giant was rolling over in his grave.

I never knew how it was pronounced. National news has been pronouncing it wrong for several decades.

When I was a student at Hamden High, we wondered where were his private parts.

This is a word I never want to hear again.

Ok - I tease - congrats to them - they beat Marquette fair and square Smile and I was pulling for them to knock off Miami too.

Seriously, who cares about pronunciation as long as someone spells it right?

Now if we can only get announcers to correctly pronounce the famous ND Football coach Knute Rockne's first name. Hint: Since it's a Norwegian name, the "K" is not silent. Wink

I remember many years ago when ND was playing at BYU and the announcers were interviewing Rockne's grandson, Knute Rockne III. During the entire interview, they correctly said "Ka-Nute." As soon as they ended it and had him off the air, they reverted back to calling his grandfather "Nute Rockne..."

You have a point- I hadn't even thought about how badly closed captioning must be butchering some of the more unique people and place names in the tournament.

But pronunciation does matter to hearing people, especially when the syllable being emphasized is "pee". It just seems inappropriate.
