Lexie Brown played PG for two seasons at Maryland but has been more of a SG at Duke. I saw an article about Lambert's injury and Brown seems to indicate that they are better when she is point guard. She had 9 assists and like 1 turnover so I'm guessing they will be fine. Teams tend to cut their rotation down in the tourney anyways so this would likely only be an issue if Brown was saddled in foul trouble.
“I’ll have to take more of the point guard responsibilities,” Brown said. “We’re most successful when I’m running the point and Becca is on the wing. We want to stick to what we’ve been doing all season long and this gives us a little extra motivation, playing for your teammate that’s down.” http://www.dukechronicle.com/article/2017/03/duke-womens-basketball-adjusting-on-the-fly-ahead-of-ncaa-tournament-second-round-matchup-against-no-10-seed-oregon

The problem is really that they haven't been very deep at guard. So Lambert is the #3 guard, but she has almost as many assists as Brown does and nobody else is even close. She can also shoot the three if needed. Maybe a bench player will step up big, but they really haven't gotten much off their bench at guard thus far this year.

Sounds like Duke only has 8 active players. They lost Lynee Belton on March 13.

“Well, we are now the Electric Eight,” McCallie said of her shrinking rotation, which also lost sophomore Lynee Belton to a knee injury in practice on March 13. “We went from the Nasty Nine to the Electric Eight. It means that everyone is going to play. That is a good thing.” |

Oregon's patience against this matchup zone is impressive considering they start 3 freshmen.

10 seed Oregon up 40-31 with 6:09 left in the 3rd. Oregon has led almost the whole game, what a strong showing on the 2 seed's home court with such a young team.

Hebard is very good for a freshman. Guess being from Alaska kept her from being more well known prior to this season but she's going to be great over the next few years.

Oregon's passing has been tremendous so far. They are really picking apart Duke's defense.

In a close game between two teams with shooters, this could be the difference. Greenwell 0-6, Bando for Oregon is 1-7 from 3 and I think she is one of the better shooters nationally from 3. If one of them can hit a couple maybe that could be the difference in a close game.

Why is Duke staying in this zone all game if Oregon is carving you up?

Duke got within like 2 or 4 but Oregon ends on a run and is now up eleven after 3. Bando hit a big 3, she had been struggling.

We'll see if they get freshman jitters. 11 sounds like a lot but a couple of Brown or Greenwell 3's and they are right in this.

Wow, back to back threes by Oregon, one from Bando and one from Cazorla and now #10 seed Oregon is up FIFTEEN on #2 Duke on Duke's home court. 7:54 left.
