Bollant out at U of I. Well deserved.

Curious as to why it took so long. What I REALLY find amazing is that he (apparently) earned nearly half a mil/year in that position. I didn't realize U of I was that cushy of a position. But....I just may be out of touch with the reality of wbb salaries.

Less buyout to have to pay..... (cynically)

At Illinois, the three main hires by the former — Tim Beckman, John Groce, and Matt Bollant — have all been fired within the last two calendar years.

Illinois could be a really, really good job. Couple hours away from 2 areas that produce a fair amount of WBB talent: Chicago & Indianapolis. Nice campus, good academics, pretty good arena. I really feel like it is a gold mine if they can get the right person.

I have heard a couple of names of people interested in that job, but nothing yet as to who the school would have in mind.

Sigh, I had a nice chat with Marsha after a game against Omaha.

Rumblings around Muncie that Sallee is wanting to move on to bigger and better things. Considering how detached he has been the past few games and his willingness to throw his team under the bus, it makes sense.

That is true, but not sure this year helped him with that. He would make some sense at Illinois considering his success at Eastern Illinois prior to taking over the Ball State program. Clearly, he has several ties in the Illinois/Indiana region.

Who should be hired

1. USC - Carol Ross (she is familiar with the LA area having coached the Sparks)

2. Arkansas - Melanie Balcomb (She don't have to recruit academics now. If she decline, Sandra Rushing, Central Arkansas coach)

3. Florida - Karl Smesko (FGCU head coach. Very successful)

4. Illinois - Kyra Elzy (Give her a chance)

After Jennifer Azzi stepped down as the head coach at the Univ. of San Francisco last year, she said that she no longer wants to be coaching in college again.

I don't think Gail Goestenkors is going back to college either.

Mark Trakh should definitely be considered for a P5 position ... the only reason he was fired at USC was a cascade of injuries, most notably to Jacki Gemelos.

New Mexico State is now a power in the WAC, and that's an amazing feat.

You're giving him too much credit. Even with all the injuries, he could never translate his Mid Major success to a P5 conference. He had multiple McD's All Americans and still struggled in a much weaker Pac 12.

I agree with pilight. Carol Ross is not going back to college ball.

What I would love to see is Balcomb at USC.
